how many items can you run off one double socket ?

running of 4 way extension leads

things like printers, computers, small tv etc

Lots - generally as long as one of them isn't a heater/hairdryer/kettle etc anything that converts electric into heat draws a lot of power and i wouldn't have on an extension lead in general.

Things like A/V equipment, computers etc have a low wattage draw so it's hard to overload a socket

Main thing is just check the plug, as long as it isn't getting warm you are fine.

But here is a socket overload calculator for you ;)

edit : This site says a socket is rated for 3000 watts

A kettle can be 3000W, a Hairdryer 2200W, a 42" TV 120W to give you an idea

im upto 27 items and need to add more

just trying to find out if that is ok

most of them are printers

It's more about electrical load then the number of items. Technically, that would be 2 X13A sockets so 26A But I think most double sockets are rated to 20A total. So long as it's not kettles, heater, toasters etc, it should be fine with things like printers, TV's, etc, they are probably quite small wattages. I have two 8 way extensions hanging off two sockets behind my desk, all populated and they both have 5A fuses fitted and are fine.

Just tot up your wattages.

I hate to think what I am running in the office, but I have filled 2 x 10 way sockets and 2 x 4 way. Saying that, there is one ring for upstairs and one for downstairs, which includes the lights and only one double socket in the office. The wiring for upstairs looks heavier than standard cooker wire however.
