UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 March *** Spoilers ***

I've seen red's given for a lot less - at the end of the day he kicked the other guy in the stomach, personally I'd have said yellow but the ref obviously saw it as dangerous play!

No, end of the day it's a 50:50 ball. Both are concentrating on the ball and it's a clash, it's a yellow every day except when it's an English team in danger of knocking out a Spanish team in the Champions League.

If anyone genuinely thinks that's a red card, i'm actually embarrassed for you.

Indeed.

This.

Tbh if that was a proper decision (yellow) we would still be running rings around Real I think, it certainly wouldn't be 2-1!

But hey-ho. Bye CL :(

Yep, we put in a good effort and were the better side up to that point, but what can you do in a situation like this. Robbery.

Is that Nani's days numbered? Not his fault at all and he had a great game but I imagine the more stupid United fans will turn on him completely now.

Can see Real scoring again at this rate. Man U looking a bit deflated. That card will be the talking point for this game.

I agree. It's a harsh decision, but compared there was more 'danger' than a few red cards that have been given in europe before. It'd be yellow in the premier league though. For me there was no dangerous intent to warrant red, but equally raised leg studs first at chest level is giving the ref the question of danger. It wasn't a smart challenge to make by nani.

50-50, going for the ball, coming together or whatever you want to call it, if the challenge is deemed dangerous then it's still a red. It's a harsh red but you can't sit here and say you've not seen them given (as above, iinm Eboue was sent off for a very similar thing for a challenge on Nani a few years back).

As for the conspiracy stuff, the ref not giving Real a pen and sending off Rafael for the handball doesn't support that.

So you are actually stating that the referee has either been bribed or is actively cheating to help Madrid out?
