UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 March *** Spoilers ***

It was a yellow card in my opinion. I can see why the referee gave a red card but it was a harsh decision. Nani was looking at the ball the entire way and only saw his opponent at the last second when the ball went over his head making it too late to pull out. I can see why he gave a red as it is dangerous play and the boot goes straight in but its very unfortunate.

So in any situation in which a player puts his boot high, he could be sent off? Players effectively cannot volley a ball now in case somebody else runs across the line of their boot?

Exactly, this is what people are trying to argue. Madness.

do you go for a volley with your studs pointing in the direction of your travel i.e with studs pointing forwards

no didnt think so

The flip side is, what if Mourinho is saying that because the ref was paid to give a red card decision against Utd and he knew about/was involved? I'd like to think that I am being paranoid but in football you never know...:p

So if you kick somebody in the chest it's fine, but if it's with your studs it's a sending off?

Just trying to clarify what the rules are...

Roy Keane would go off his head and then rip the ref's head off if he got sent off for that! :D He just loves the attention.
