UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 March *** Spoilers ***

Considering there is clear as day contact on his ribs, and he merely follows through and also kicks his arm, Gallagher's opinion is thus invalidated, as we've all suspected, he's clearly blind.

Rio's clapping was as said, hilarious, stupid but hilarious, though I fail to see what can be classless about a clap, I was pretty surprised the ref didn't book him.

Out of interest, have you ever played football?

Sorry, genuine question - intrigued as to whether there's a divide between those who have and those who haven't played football.

Harsh red card but then I guess that's football sometimes. Still, very pleased with the players (Giggs in particular, I can't explain such performances at his age. Not when he's been so bad at times recently) and I thought SAF played it very well over the two games.
Just hope SAF dosn't get too silly post match.

I thought the Rio flapping in the refs face was pretty hilarious.

Stupid and classless but still hilarious :D

Was pretty funny. I guess Vidic could have done the same but was too busy shaking of the probable concussion from being punched in the head by the RM goalkeeper. Which of course is not dangerous play that. Running and jumping and punching where you know someone's head will be - that's not dangerous play is it.

Really need to destroy Chelsea at the weekend, with the PL already all but won it would be a massive missed opportunity not to win more than one trophy this season :(

Best SAF didn't do the post match conference as he'd probably end up with a HUGE £10,000 fine from Uefa. :p

I'm glad he's at the club though, because I don't think anyone else would be able to pick the players up and turn this defeat in to a drive for the league.

Out of interest, do you actually have an answer as to why a flying kick above chest height wouldn't be a red card? Could you tell me why, considering "lunging tackles" off the ground are considered red cards BELOW waist height, that it wouldn't also be a red card above waist height.

Seriously, imagine the same tackle, off the ground, 2 ft lower on his upper thigh, a red every time, that tackle is a red 4 inches off the ground or catching Crouch in the head, or anything in between.

It was a FLYING KICK he did, regardless of anything else, IT WAS A FLYING KICK.

I've both played football before, and never tried to make an argument with anyone off the flawed argument of "oh, if you'd played football you'd get it", or replace that with any sport.

Yep, the double will have to do. :(

I think it's more likely he was trying to bring the ball down than a 'OMG FLYING KICK'.

Harsh red, but some of these European referees can be very card happy. You can't give them chance to affect the game in that way.

Ouch

I realise that last post was slightly presumptuous, what I meant to say is it would be a missed opportunity not to be involved in the FA Cup past this weekend given the situation in the league

man utd fans should switch to itv+1

your still in the champs league

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAHAAHHAAHAAHHAHAHA.................................Oh wait

Goto ESPN Classic and you might see some 'Classic Football' from the George Graham era or have all Arsenal fans conveniently forgot what dire carp you used to serve up before Wenger
