Does anyone know what my rights are here?
BA has moved my flight tomorrow to jerez, but by the time i wait an hour after landing for the transfer bus they are running then the 3 hour transfer to malaga, then on to where i actually want to get to im going to waste an extra 4 or 5 hours.
is it realistic to ask for a rental car from jerez airport?

Not a chance you'll get that off them. Unfortunately you'll probably just have to suck up the wasted time, it's not that long in the grand scheme of things.

Speak to your travel insurance company.

Decent policies will allow you to claim back the car costs.

hadn't booked insurance yet.
going ballistic because its only a flying visit, heading back the next night and i don't fancy getting in at silly o'clock in the morning before a full day of meetings

Entered thread expecting bombers, anti aircraft fire and pictures of carnage.

Left thread slightly dissapointed :p

They are offering to get you there, you right, is to not travel and have a full refund.
You could ask for that.

This strike is not the airlines fault, good they are getting you somewhere close.
Strange that only one airport is striking,

I get that point, just been on to the phone with them going back and forward for an hour.
They've offered me a full refund, but thats no good to me. i need to be there.
As i see it the strike is there fault. Its the iberia staff that are on strike and they are owned by BA.
The problem is that by the time i get to malaga ill miss my connecting bus.

Check the T&C's - it'll have an indemnity covering strike action.

Take the refund or suck up the extra time - there's not a lot else you can do.

Oh, and you moaning on a forum about BA and how unreasonable theyare being in the situation is exactly the response the Union and the strikers want - you're playing right into thier hands :-)
