Dear All,

What is the best cooler for the above CPU given that I'd like to overclock this i5?

Some of the Overclockers overclocked bundles come with the Prolimatech Megahalem cooler but do I need extra fans with that? Is there a better alternative to this that gives similar performance for less money and/or is smaller?

What's the perfect bang for the buck here?

Regards,

Mark

How far do you wish to overclock? These IB chips do run very hot, I keep mine cool under the Alpenfohn k2. v1.34-35 for 4.7GHz, max temps after a solid match of Crysis 3 are: 73'C, 72'C, 74'C, 69'C.

Totally depends on the level of overclock, high overclock -> splash out on any of the high end e.g. SB-E, PH-TC14PE, NH-D14, K2.
4.2-4 get yourself something like a Hyper 212 Evo, coolermaster etc. :)

My budget for cooler is ~£50, don't really want to go above that price really. I guess the one I've mentioned is okay for this price? Can I get a better one for £50?

My case is an Antec Sonata III - not a massive case.

Thanks guys,

The problem with most of those is that I don't think they'll fit in my case. Are there any decent i5-3570 coolers that are around 145mm in height?

I found two that would fit into my case:

Artic Cooling freezer Xtreme Rev.2 & OCUK Tech labs prolimatech Samual17

Are these any good for cooling the i5-3570?

dont get the arctic cooling freezer. i have it on my i5 and the temps get high easily. i've modded another fan on the side of the heatsink and it dropped my temps by 10°c.

i dont think the fan is upto much on that arctic cooler.
