Police assessment center passed!

Congrats and good luck with training. Can full well imagine how stressful you found the day having worked behind the scenes of police recruitment!

Give it all you've got and the training will go swimmingly...look forward to the "General Exposure" ;-)

Congrats but as someone else already said a mate of mine also passed assessment but there are no places due to budget cuts.

Well done. I'll leave the negativity and cynicism of the Job aside, you'll get enough of that on section. It's a way of life, and it's not for everyone - I hope you'll love it as much as I do. It can be very hard-going at times, but the job satisfaction can be immense.

Do you have the medical to go, or are you just waiting for a start date?

Good show old boy!

I applied for it years ago when I didn't really know what to do with my life. I passed everything, but then my tar-filled lungs made me die during the bleep test! I really should have practised a bit...

I don't want to **** on your chips, but don't celebrate until you get a start date.

I passed..
  1. Application paper sift
  2. Assessment centre
  3. Fitness 1
  4. Medical
  5. Drugs Test
  6. Fitness 2
  7. Pre-induction course

.. Literally the only thing left was a uniform fitting and I got my application terminated because of the security vetting checks, which I assume (never found out and they refused to tell me!), turned up something about some distant relative.

Essentially I can never apply to my local force despite passing everything and having a 100% clean record

Now the past 6 years of my life I have literally pee'd against the wall. I was stuck in a dead end, stale relationship working for her corrupt, crooked father who had no ethics or morals what so ever. Toward the end of 2011 I actually found myself feeling quite low and deflated. With the turn of 2012 I decided to grab life by the horns and sort it out.

So you took his dirty money...you'll make a good copper ;)
Oh and congrats

EVH, that's harsh!

It was doubly annoying as I'd passed the application paper sift 18 months before getting a call to attend the assessment centre, so it wasted around 2 and a half years of my life :(

You might want to think long and hard about it BTW.

Can you deal with:

Shift patterns including nights and weekends
Cancelled days off
Cancelled or interrupted holidays
Shifts running over

On paper it seems like a great job but the toll it can take on your personal life and the personal life of your family can be significant. You may also want to look at the Winsor reports and the changes that are happening.

Seriously, speak to someone like VS on these boards for a proper, no BS look into the life of a copper. He has been in 13 years so the "honeymoon" period is well and truly over...

Congrats on getting in... Just have a good think especially if you are doing well in your current job and the prospect of progression is good.

Congrats! I've been a special for 3 years and could never imagine joining the police full time anymore, but if its what you want to do, I wish you all the best :D

Congrats!

My sister tried it a couple of times but failed at assessment as she's generally a berk.

My brother passed, became a Constable for a few years but is now in prison because he thought he could be the Bad Lieutenant.
