I'm considering upgrading my 650D to an 800D, i'd be interested in hearing some of the pros and cons from people that own one.

Whats it like for cable management, is their plenty of space been the chassis and the door, are their plenty of cable tie hooks, i'm just after general opinions really.

Whats the cooling and air flow like with having no front fan like the 650D ?

I don't own one but from the handful of reviews and the comments from owners I've read the Corsair 800D is really meant/designed for watercooled systems.

I love my 800D...LOVE IT !!!!!

The size is pretty big so you would need to think about that. My PC lives in the spare room, which I call the PC room so size is not an issue.

It takes the Corsair H100 easily and could well fit four fans in push\pull.
It could very easily take a bigger rad with a full water cooling set up,I have seen on YouTube many vids showing complex modding going on.

The finish is out standing, all black metal.
The front comes off very nicely.
The sides come off really easily.

What I really love about it are the four main Hot Swap bays. I am forever messing with new installs of all OS types and it is great just to unclip the drives and slide them out.

The cable management is brilliant but on the Vengeance C70 there are a couple of extra clips which hold the cables even neater.

A good quality PSU is needed, simply cause I have found they come with longer cables and trust me you will need long cables to run round. It is a long way from the bottom to the top of the board for the 12V 8 pin connectors.

The new 900D looks even better but at a price.

Splash out and buy one TODAY...You will love it too..

tnx

I just fancy a change of case more than anything, i presume with it being bigger internally than the 650D that the air flow and cooling would be better ?

The PSU ive got is a Corsair AX850, i also bought the official blue braided cable kit for it, do you reckon they will all reach where they need to go ?

Yep, feel pretty sure you PSU will be fine. I have the Corsair TX 850 and have no problems. Mine is not modular and there is plenty of room to hide away the unused cables.

My temps are pretty good, nice and cool.
There is space for even more fans than the standard ones I have.

Trying to think of owt that bugs me and I can I can only come up with one. The front USB 3 ports have the male connectors and not the onboard header connector.
the wires are very long though and route to the back and come out of some water cooling gromits very nice and neatly.
I feel pretty sure the newer 900D will have this. I say this cause my sons new Vengeance C70 does have USB 3 header connectors.
Maybe Corsair will make a new front pannel with this feature, cause the first gen 800D was only USB 2.
I personally would buy a new front pannel if this happened.

Without winning the lottery and been able to buy the 900D I can honestly say I will never need to buy another case, ever !

can you afford to push the boat right out and get the 900D ?:D

Your obviously using liquid cooling with the H100, someone on the Corsair Forum said that the 800D isn't a great case for air cooling, they said the airflow would be better in the 650D. I'm using an airflow push/pull setup with a Phanteks cooler.

Yep i am using water.
I have not run an air cooler in this case so I dont really know.

I guess you could have the fans pointing towards the rear of the case and have the rear fan exahust.

The bottom fan I recon is best suitd to intake.

You could buy some 120mm fans for the top. Have them set to exhaust and test the temps then set them to intake and do another temp test.See which is better and set them that way.

You could then post your findings on the forums for other folk interested in this case to read. Would be interesting.

the 800d is an oldschool hotbox. Its designed for a negative pressure setup that leads to it becoming filled with dust.

construction is high quality though.

I would look to get a more modern case, potentially a 900d.

Tanks for all the input.

Based on what people have said and what ive read i'm going to stick with the 650D for the time being, its an excellent case and very good for air cooling.

The 800D seems to be targeted at water cooling and isn't great for air flow and air cooling, i won't be going into water cooling anytime soon. The 900D looks massive, you'd need planning permission for that lol, it would be way overkill for what i need.

I am just about to sell my 700D. Its a great case and masses of space and potential but just a bit too big for me. Deffo aimed at high spec systems and watercooling.

Yeah, if you don't plan of using a watercooling set-up then the Corsair 800D or 900D are pretty pointless - they are designed with watercooling systems in mind. And if you don't have a lot of space, then definitely don't get the 800/900D; they're bloody huge.

I took a picture when I first got my 800D just to compare.
My old case was a Coolermaster,Wavemaster I think.

Gives you an idea of the size next to what we will call a normal case..

They are huge, theyre very heavy but they are a joy to work with. Ive built close to 30 systems in various cases and the 800d is the best of the lot IMHO.

I Agree, my 800D has been under my bed for 6 months now, as much as it looks nice its not the best layout inside etc.. and yes it gets hot with none exhaust GPU's as i found out :s

Mine is air cooled and fine no fans running in it and is silent, Yeah watercooling would be awesome but just not needed for me anymore as I no longer house 4 gpus in it. :D

Nice one for posting that pic, I've got a Coolermaster ATC110 which is a similar (if not the same) size to the Wavemaster but I've been considering moving to one of the Corsair cases.
