Aspiring Recruitment Consultant

As it is a serious post, why do you want to become a recruitment consultant?
Just seems a very strange job to aspire to.

Not every recruiter is as bad as you all make out. I have met some pretty outstanding ones in my time who have been invaluable.

You are all very stereotypical on this forum.

Tell us about one recruitment 'consultant' who was outstanding to the client and not to the shareholder, owner or boss who paid his or her wages.

I dare you.

Have to say I have had one good experience with a recruitment guy but it was in a very niche field and he had good relations with most of the major firms, still remember his name funnily enough even though it was around 7-8 years ago now - put me forward for one interview, got job. Job done :p

Well I know of one who almost took 3 months to find me exactly what I was looking for. In the end he found me the perfect role. He didn't make me apply for any and every job I was vaguely suited for.

Recruitment consultants... They promise you the Earth and give you a shovel.

I avoid them at all costs. I hate they way loads of them keep trying to add me on linkedin.

Why would you need a degree for what is essentially a sales-based role?

Just LOL at this thread, I genuinely don't know what to say.

It was high level telesales though. Not your call centre type.

This is not a thing. High level telesales is not a thing.

I am a business consultant, you aren't. Good luck with going into recruitment, why not.

This is most definitely a thing and someone you should listen to. I'm going to guess that you won't because "high level telesales", eh!

Tell me why this makes any sense to you.

You can make a lot of money as a Rec Con.

Not many friends though. ;)

Seriously though I work in the industry (I am not a Rec Con) but can help you if you have any questions.

The potential to make good money and to help out fellow job seekers who need a helping hand. Contrary to popular belief a lot of specialist agency's do actually do what they say they will and actually do help people.

Take a chill pill.

Take a chill pill.

He's right at least on the last point, think about it they work on commission if you're taking 3 months to get someone into a job you're not going to be making a lot of money.
You actually sound like you have the right intentions, these will be beaten out of you as soon as you start and you will have the stack them high, churn them out, make your money outlook beaten back in.

An ex-gf of mine briefly got into recruitment consultancy. All they said she needed was a drive to make money. No qualifications at all were needed.
