Now live in Scotland !
I have 2 x gtx680s and was going to watercool them both when i build a new system once the corsiar 900D is released .

But is 2 in sli better than 1 GTX690 ?

if so by how much and would it be cost effective as if i sell my 2 680s would the 690 be worth the outlay ?

Both my 680's are both standard reference cards .

Price vs performance ?

I prefer the 2 card option, as if one goes down you still
have a card to use.

Also 2 x 680's will give you more performance than a 690,
you'd lose money selling your 680's and have to put money towards a 690.

Many people would prefer the 690 (less space, less power required, looks great, apparently does not produce microstutter). However,if you own two 680's you would be crazy to change for a 690.
The 680's should probably overclock better too if you do that.

Keep the GTX 680s

If you were starting from scratch a GTX 690 could work out cheaper to w/c than 2 GTX 680s. Only one w/block, fittings and tubing required as apposed to 2 of everything for the 680s.

You already own the GTX 680s so the above is not relevant.

Thanks for all the Quick answers ..

will keep the 680's then ,and yes they really do overclock really well ,and only using stock coolers at the minute , cant wait to watercool them in the summer ..

Will be getting Corsair 900D along with a New X79 motherboard hopefully the EVGA x79 DARk and V12 set up and sending my cards to overclockers to put blocks on them .

Cant wait .

Does SLI 680s suffer from microstutter still then?Oo also would being on a 120hz monitor make it less likely to happen?

By the way i would keep SLI 680s too.

I found the 313.95 drivers were like silk and the 310.xx drivers were like ****** doing the roads. SLI gave me no issues/microstutter at all except for those God awful 310 drivers :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but im undecided on getting another 680 to SLI or a Titan.

I only game at 1080 but play most single player games in 3D.

What do you think guys?

Cool, another 3D fan.

I did some testing with 5760x1080 3D surround with SLI Titans and will do some single Titan,3D 1080P hopefully over the weekend.

I used SLI 680's for triple screen 3D and they did struggle a little but for 1080P, I will say they will work well.

Titan is very expensive and I recommend considering it if, you intend to do multi monitor gaming and then I would say get 2. 680's will hold their own for awhile.

That is the results of my testing if it helps at all :)

As Greg says, it will play fine at 1080p. I had the Asus VG278H running 680s in SLI in 3D and everything was fine. Battlefield 3 multiplayer slows it down a bit and makes it hard to kill but wow it looks good :D. As you're going to be using it in single player I think you'll have a great experience (if you get on with 3D for long periods that is). I wouldn't hope for a great Crysis 3 experience in 3D without lowering a lot of settings I'd imagine but that game is very taxing.

I spent a lot of time in the prone/crouching positions for the first few days in awe of the vegetation popping out at me (sad, but true). Left for Dead 2 was amazing, mowing through the zombies with the chainsaw as they all run for me. I think you'll have a ball and if not, you've always got 120hz for 2D gaming which helps a lot if you've got more power to try and maintain 120 FPS so either way you can't lose.

One more thing and Nvidia only (for now), Lightboost hack (link below) :). I'm using it and it's amazing. Even though 120Hz is a lot smoother, and I mean a lot. You still get motion blur, this eradicates it for a near CRT experience. I wish I tried it on the Asus. You will never go back after trying 120Hz Lightboost hack or not (if you do your sanity is in question instantly :D).

Thanks guys

Yes I have gone through quite a few games in 3D and have loved every minute.

Dishonoured, Farcry 3, Deadspace 3 and Crysis 3 all seem to get consistant frames on my single 680 in 3D with pretty much everything on high/ultra. I do opt for FXAA though as the 3d does a great job of smoothing.

Single monitor gaming for me so I will probably opt for another 680.

The Titan is tempting though :(
