Supplements the debate/discussion thread

So they use the more expensive, lower yielding non-chemical process and can still charge £3.40/kg?

They may well be robbing people blind, but at the same time, you've got to question a business that brings a product to market at a significantly lower price. I'm sure they don't do it out of the goodness of their heart. Many businesses aren't very honest and could easily skew things.

I understand where you're coming from, but personally I'd rather spend more and feel more comfortable.

What I might do is drop them an email and find out why they're more expensive. They're probably a smaller company and have similar overheads.

For me though, it will always be quality > price. Maybe I'm a mug? Well actually, I know I'm not, but it's whatever is important to you.

the virgin production process is more timely and more expensive! not the normal process.

Virgin is a more pure product hence the name. They extract from coconut kernels/milk, normal pressing is kernel generally.
From the drop from the plant they take extra care to make sure the coconut is kept safe from heat exposure. The extraction process might not be as complex but it will likely yeild less oil from the raw material, and it must be kept pure, so that means time. More time/greater care do yeild higher costs and in turn prices.

I fully understand the need to charge more, my point, specifically with coconut oi,l is "how much of an impact is virgin over normal??". My findings so far is that virgin doesnt warrant the 700%+ price difference, i am actually slightly happier with the taste of the KTC, and there is no noticeable difference in energy levels.

of course it is, but if there is little to no difference between the effects of vigrin and ordinary on the body it really is a waste of money. If the difference is nominal, its pretty much a waste of money. If the difference was big enough then cool its worth the money.
This is quite a unique case as the price variance is so massive for such a simple product, it really is hard to see how virgin oil could be so much better (and nothing i have found has shown this. Please if anyone finds anything post it up!!) to justify the price hike.

Maybe not in the effects, but in terms of taste and quality there is undoubtedly a difference. I want something as least refined/processed as possible, to live by my lifestyle and for me that's worth paying for. :)

It's like protein powders - not all are equal, some contain better AA profiles. Or other supps where the concentration/purity affects the effectiveness so you may have to take more / less to get the same effect.

Ultimately, for me CO is a food, not a supplement. I use it to cook with and to eat - so for me the price of quality comes into it's own. If you're using it like a supp, then of course it's less of an issue if you're just after MCTs. As long as it's not bleached or mixed with crap ingredients then that's all you need to worry about. :)

Just noticed I forgot to order caffeine as well. No point in ordering it on it's own to Ireland, the postage is more than a 100g bag of it.

I could send you an unopened 100g bag for the price of royal mail postage if you want? Dunno how much that would be.. Had it for ages as it's a spare from when MP cocked up my order.
