frankie boyle booed by comic relief crowd

I think he's got worse over the years.

Originally he was actually quite funny. He was reasonably offensive.
Now he seems to have become more offensive because he has realised that's his 'niche'. Which fair enough I can appreciate, but I feel now a days he's overplaying it too much, and being offensive for offensive sake, rather than actually being funny.

That said, some of the stuff he says isn't bad, it's not great, but its not bad. The problem is, the stuff that isn't funny, all it has left is being offensive, and that's the overruling factor rather than other comedians, who if they aren't funny tend to just sound stupid.

No strangers to controversy also: Jack Whitehall and Jason Manford were among the other funnymen who performed at the event
Jason Manford and Jack Whitehall are controversial now?

What?

Jason Manford and Jack Whitehall are funnymen now?

What?

Frankie Boyle is ok. He churns out a lot of rubbish, but just occasionally he will drop in something absolutely brilliant that makes me forget the other stuff that isn't funny

wait WAT!
the daily mail are up in arms about something!
omgwtfbbq!

Nobody books frankie boyle and expects a clown who is going to tell why did the chicken cross the road jokes and balloon folding, so a comedian that specialises in offensive humour offends a couple of people, non story tbh!

Did he do his routine of Michael Jackson's Childrens Hospital? If not, he wussed out.

One of the most amazing things I've ever heard.

Warning: content not suitable for easily offended wusses
edit: nm contains swearies, if you want to view then > RM8EVIbNxk4

As a Catholic I had a little chuckle at his joke about the Pope, no offence felt. Some people need to stop putting others on a high plinth, the queen is just as fair game as anyone else. I just don't understand this Stalinistic cult of personality that the media has for Lizzie at the moment.

I'm looking forward to playing some Smiths tracks fairly soon. 'Charles don't you ever crave, to appear on the front of the Daily Mail, dressed in your mother's bridal veil?'. No doubt the Daily Mail would be happy to publish such pictures.

If comedy isn't being offensive it's failing. In many people's eyes making jokes about the Royal Family are taboo. Comedy is all about subverting those taboos, and making people laugh, shocking them and making them think.

I went to a Work in Progress night a year or so ago, where he tried out new jokes for a tour he was about to embark on. Was really interesting actually, he spoke a bit about why he says the things he says and acts the way he does, and how he sees it as a comedians job to break through those taboo boundaries, to make people think and discuss things that society is failing to talk about in public.

What is perhaps more worrying, however, is the amount of people who are bound to follow in his footsteps. Those who are simply copying his shtick without the same meaning or impulse.

I went to see him live a couple of years ago now and while he was funny a lot of his material was just what he used on Mock the week. His tramadol nights on ch4 was the most messed up show I have ever seen, some of which I just didn't find funny. I think the bottom line is, you book Frankie Boyle to do a show, prepare for the worst because he aint coming with jokes about garlic bread or how his pet dog humps his shoe.

Boyle is just offensive for the sake of it, I can't say I've ever found him funny in the slightest.
There's far better comic acts out there who don't just **** everyone off.

You have never found even one of his jokes even slightly funny? Wow, what an interesting and varied sense of humour you must have.

Its on Youtube

A member of the audience recorded it, nowhere near as bad as it was reported, and he wasnt booed off either!

It is trivially easy to offend a lot of people. It's much harder to amuse a lot of people. Boyle just takes the path of least resistance. It's lazy.
