I have just received a Bitfenix shinobi and so need a new load of fans 4 120 and 2 140. I don't particularly care about them being silent as I often have my xbox and head set on at the same time so noise is not an issue. I would also like them to be red as they would fit with my color scheme. I don't particularly want to spend more on fans than the case.

Now that I have a bigger case I also want a Heatsink (air) I have a budget of £30-£40. I was considering the evo 212 but some say the 612 is better or are there others.

A fan controller is more of an extra but I would prefer to be able to adjust my fans and my MB only has one 3 pin header and one 4 pin header so would make it tidier no splitters every where. I have a budget of around £30 for this as well

I feel that if i can get the cooling sorted then I can start upgrading the hardware. Sorry for the long post!!!

This is what I would do:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £32.99
1 x BitFenix Recon Internet-Connected Fan Controller (Black) £29.99
4 x Akasa AK-FN058 Apache Black Super Silent 120mm Fan - 4 Pin PWM £9.98 (£39.92)
2 x Thermalright TY-147 140mm Case Fan - 120mm Mount - Silent £5.99 (£11.98)
Total : £125.39 (includes shipping : £8.75).

The cooler is close to some of the more expensive ones, fans are silent & powerful & the Recon is the best fan controller I've found.

That's a good cooler but the Cooler Master Hyper 612S allows a extra fan to be attached to the heatsink

Looks like the Matterhorn allows this also. Look at the design of the heatsink, it's symmetrical allowing you to move the position of the fan or add one.

You'll need another 2 Wire clips to attach the fan to the heatsink, but the Cooler Master Hyper 612S has a snap fan bracket

I was looking at that, as it is Alpenföhn, just no one seems to recommend it its either the Cooler Master 612s or the 212evo. The Alpenföhn gets good reviews as well, just looked.

Depending how much space you have in your case & if your RAM is low profile to fit under it, I would recommend this:

I bit the bullett and bought it and wish I'd got it sooner. On my FX-6100 @ 4.4ghz, I get 26-28 idle & 41-43 load.

It does, see the photo below

Not necessarily, you just need to be willing to improvise:

The two clips from the Matterhorn hold the top of the fans whilst zip-ties secure the bottom

Worked PERFECTLY fine.

Zip ties wont this cause vibrations and there for unnecessary noise ?

Didn't with mine but I fitted rubber dampners in addition to the dampners that come as part of the design of the SP series from Corsair

Had to enlarge the image so the quality is a bit naff but you should get the idea from it. It was replicated on both the lower mounts on both sides of the heatsink
