Hi, I'm pondering on upgrading to ivy i7 and a z77 board from i5 sandy and a z68 board, I mainly use it for gaming and considering upgrading graphics card from a gtx 680 to gtx 690. Do you guys think I would benefit with an upgraded processor and mobo with a 690 or would my current z68 and sandy be ok with a gtx 690? Thanks.

A 3770K will not be a worthwhile upgrade considering it's price. You will get similar framerates as to your existing setup. If a 2500K bottlenecks a graphics card, it's likely the 3770K will to as games do not use hyperthreading well.

I think the CPU has enough grunt as it is. Have you tried overclocking your CPU? Why don't you look at getting another 680GTX in SLI?

Hi, yes cpu is @ 4.8ghz and considered another 680 but here of stuttering issues with seperate cards, Also heard that two 680's are bottlenecked by a non hyperthreaded chip, whether true or not I don't know. Do 690's also suffer from micro stutter?

You're better off waiting out for Haswell if it's a gaming rig. Games won't be pushing you're current rig till Haswell is out anyway

OK, I know it makes sense, is there a release date for Haswell yet?
Thanks.
Also do we know if 1155 socket coolers will be compatible with the new Haswell socket? I have a Antec Kuhler h20 920 and would like to keep it.

^^^

June I believe, latest July (for desktops)

I don't think it will be compatible no, but there will definitely be LGA1150 compatible ones by release

Don't think that will be worth it either tbh. Depends for what usage. It's nice to have a i7. I can transcode while doing something else on the side. Maybe that would be a push with a 2500K? I'd be looking at getting a cheap 2600K / 2700K when Haswell comes out and they start being more appealing on the second hand market (or indeed retail, as I got mine for £210). That is if you actually need the extra grunt.

On the other hand, you seem to be throwing money at GPUs. So you should have a budget to play with.
