Just had a look at the site and noticed that a MSI 7970 Be is 500 pounds, I bought my card from this site for 370 pounds, thats a 130 pounds difference.

Ive noticed that most cards on this site has gone up by a lot, asking an extra 100 pounds for a 7970 lightning! why?

I really wanted to buy a 2nd 7970 so I can xfire my set up, but I will not pay the extra 100 quid as I expected it to be cheaper.

Anyone know why there is a massive price increase for gpu,s?

Will be blamed on the economy, exchange rate etc, but in all honestly we get ripped off way too much on electrical stuff in the UK, its just the way it is :(

ive noticed this too. however the gigabyte 7970 wf is a steal at £299

the msi lighting BE is better set up for high overclocks with its improved power delivery and 2 8pin connections and other gimmicks but id rather keep £200 and take a chance that the giga card is a better clocker.

Its only one 7970, most of them are still at £340, and yes that Giga WF 7970 for £300 is cheap.

Ripoff britan. I've been saying this ever since I moved here. UK has some of the highest taxes in the world.

Apparently the Lightning is hitting silly prices due to it not being made any more. Therefore, a premium is being charged for the remaining stock.

I was tempted with the 299 Gigabyte 7970 but am I right in thinking as voltage locked - that the even cheaper Gigabyte 7950 could clock as high if not higher ?

makes the GB 7950 look even more a bargain

I think that ridiculous, where a product becomes old or outdated it should be cheaper, not more expensive, I bought mine on overclockers for £100 less,

Its not as if its a antique or special edition signed by a celebrity. looks like I should be able to sell mine for £400? or get my original £370 back then i could by a 7990...

Its put me off my purchase as I was looking forward to MSI 7970 lightning xfire mode. its the best peforming card I ever had, beating my previous 5970 xfire in peformance.

its always happens - jsut because those prices get advertised - doesn't mean anyone will buy one :)

same happened with 480s

same happened with 580s

That's the price I got mine for.

you paid £500 for a 7970? wow, add another 100 and 2 standard 7970s xfire or a 2nd hand 690, i wouldmt pay nothing more than £300 for a 7970 BE,,

Ive looked elsewhere and its kinda the same, if I can sell my one for £350 atleast i,ll go for the 7990,.

Basic supply and demand really, if the card sucked or wasn't anything special I doubt the price would have moved (maybe gone down?)

But since that's not the case and demand is there without supply, prices will go up :)

Yeah it sucks, but that's economics for you.

It says £360 in his quote...

I paid £360 for it but it actually cost me £258. ;)

Should've gone to Specsavers...

If he went to Specsavers, I'd be asking for a refund.
