The guy who bought my MX5 turned up in an E36 M3 Touring. I can't remember if he said it was some sort of weird official version or whether it had an engine transplant

I'd say so, I'd known of the M8 and the X5M before now.

They didn't include the E39 M5 touring that used to do the rounds. Le mans blue I believe.
