Hitachi 1tb 32mb Sata 7200rpm
GTX 650ti 1G
800w PSU
Over the past few weeks i have been playing crysis 3 and i come to realise that my system is more substandard for it than what i thought pre-release. I need run the game on lowest settings in order for it to run as jutter free as possible, disabling V-sync was the biggest contributor for smoother game play. I slightly upped the core clock on my GPU from 925mhz to 945, and this runs at 56°C, but my CPU gets quite hot!. With speed step disabled running at 100mhz x37 core temp is showing me:
Core1 : 76°C
Core2 : 76°C
Core3 : 77°C
Core4 : 76°C
With quite cool ambient room temps, ie radiators off with UK temperatures from this time of year.
I know the chip is rated to handle up to something like 95°C but an average of 76°C feels too high for comfort. Ofc i could lower the multiplyer to obtain better temps, at a cost to the in game experience.
Bottom line is i know many of my parts are not great, a GTX 680 will be a cert for the near future, but what quick mods should i make regarding my CPU? Since its not the 2600K i cannot OC so is it still worth getting a H2O kit? and what is the max OC potential of the 2600S? The chip i have has been in use for nearly 2 yrs now with plenty of gaming along the way mainly crysis 2, so u don't think it might just be getting tired? or should there be plenty more life in it yet?
I was thinking about getting a full set of replacement fans for the case i have as a cheap fix in the short term. Maybe with an extra inlet fan to raise incase compression. Would this give me any noticable improvement or is it worth just going straight for a H2O kit which would mean me needing a new case i think cause theres no Ports for the pipes to go through the back of it.
Sorry i yarped on a bit
any advice would be appreciated, suggestions and opinions also.
Owe 1 last thing, when i am to replace my 650 GTXti would it be worth hanging onto as a PHSX card?
Many thanks for any replies.
