Hi Guys

Been running 6950 2GB CFs for a while now.. I've been thinking about possibly a 7950 or 7970 CF set up, I see you can get the Gigabyte 7970WF 3GB for £299.99 each at the moment, now is it worth it would I see a massive increase in performance if I were to take the jump, the games im playing at the moment are FC3, Sleeping Dogs, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider & Various COD titles & I have BF3 rest of my system spec is a Ivybridge I5 3570K @ 4.6GHZ, 16GB RAM, 120GB SSD, 3TB HDD, Z77 MPOWER, would these cards last me longer than the 6950s have lasted me, and which are the best to get? I only purchased the 6950s in October 2011 and feel now they are slightly not cutting the mustard anymore under certain circumstances, what would be my best bet for future proofing, bearing in mind my current board is a pci e 3.0 and the current cards running in it are only 2.0

Cheers

Will

On 1080p I have went from highly oc'ed 6950>70 >7970> 7970+7950 CFx >7950 CF.

Smart money is on the 7950's mate for gaming, 7970's only for benchmarking or eyefinity imo, if 7950 CF can't play it, 7970's won't either.

not true.

10% faster can play various things better

I've noticed the MSI 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost is available for £225.00 and it has a clock speed of 960mhz and it seems much cheaper than all of the other offerings how come? :D

Well...if you're talking about a game being unplayable, then 10% would only be between 3 and 4 FPS difference, considering most would say 30-40fps is the bare minimum for playability, 3-4 fps wouldn't make a world of difference, so Tommy's point stands.

just buy one 7950 see how it performs and add another later

for 1920x1080 a single 7950 is plenty power, plus less hassle regarding heat and xfire

Can't decide what I want at the moment lol... 7950 or 7970 and which card, im going to get 2..

If your getting two then it might be a good idea to get a pair of 7970's as that will double up the ~10% gain from the 7950 to ~20%.

The best option with CF / SLI are the enclosed blower fans, for cooling reasons, like the red HIS HD 7970 for £340

hmm ive noticed 2 7950 gigabyte wf b grades for £199.99 each.. tempted on those lol!

Wow, yum! seems like an excellent deal but i can't see it as everytime i go to the store it just returns "Too many connections"

OcUK flush your MySQL cache database.
