So i had my mates people carrier for the day, he'd asked me to check the breakers for a parcel shelf and told me i could take the vehicle there to make sure it fit.
As i parked up, a couple, looking no more than 20ish each and looking worse for wear came up to the car. They asked for a fag if i had one and maybe a pound or two to get somethng from the chicken shop.. I took pity and gave them a box of 10 with maybe 6 in it and 5 quid from the change tray. They thanked me profusely and went their way. They looked genuinely out of luck and were well spoken/mannered etc.. certainly just looked like people hard hit by the recent economic downturn.
Fast foward 20 mins later, i go back to find the passenger window broken and the remaining 4 quid gone as well as my mates sat nav and phone charger.. The guys at the next door bodyshop said that the same couple broke into the car and they tried to catch them but they were too quick.

The owner of the breakers heard my story and checked cctv etc.. but it wasn't in view. The nice part of the story i guess is that he actually sorted out the glass free of charge (even after not making a sale as they didn't have a parcel shelf) I offered to pay but he was so disgusted about what happened he refused.. So all i owe me mate is a sat nav and a phone charger.

Police won't be interested - too much effort to investigate something like that.

It more likely that it'd be a waste of resources even if they had all the evidence they needed, the CPS is useless and not fit for purpose anymore.

I've had an incident before, criminal damage & leaving the scene of an accident, all caught on high quality CCTV (clear images of both driver & vehicle number plates) and there was an independent witness.

Cops came and were ecstatic when I handed them the DVD of the whole thing, time/date stamped, the works. Culprit was arrested. CPS decided to drop the charges, their reason - LACK OF EVIDENCE.

Our justice system is broken beyond repair and favours the criminal over the victim.

As for the OT: I've never had faith in humanity. My mantra is everyone is a ******* moron until they give me reason to think otherwise.

Totally agree. Unless you have full details including name and address, it's pointless for them to waste any time on it at all. No point digging into a lead-less case when you have petty crimes on Facebook and the internet with all the hard work done already.

lol - I'm not having a dig at the police with that, just saying it as it is.

They definitely, will not, investigate that matter.

As an example, I was at my local police station a fortnight ago and was told by the civilian policeman at the frontdesk (as there was not 1 real policeman free in the entire station available to speak to me supposedly) (and for some background, this relates to a case of taking without consent), that "We don't have a name and that's not for us to investigate. Maybe if you could give us the name of the individual, then we could investigate the matter".

The entire system is so ridiculous it's almost amusing.
