I have a 5870, i5 2500k @ 4.7ghz, 8gb ram and 2x 120GB SSDs. I play arma 2 and will be moving over to arma 3 on full release and expect to play it more and more, especially in beta.

I get between 30-60fps currently, on high, but I would like either more AA or more fedility or greater view distance.

Should I look at upgrading and to what? I have seen a 2GB GTX680 for £357 and am tempted, I was looking at the titan lol but that is silly money.

My heart says upgrade but my head says its alpha dummy and it aint out fully until sept.

What is a massive upgrade over my 5870 but under £400?

I think I would like to go back to Nvidia but is the GTX680 £60 better than a 7970 Gigabyte windforce at £299?

The other issue I have is a chronic shortage of HDD, am I better spending my money on a 500GB SSD I have seen a samsung one for £261 delivered.

Oh I game on a single monitor at 1080p

I would look a GTX670 or an HD7970 if you are spending £300 on a graphics card, and an HD7950 3GB too if you want to spend less.

TBH,I would wait until the game is out first!! There are some Alpha results out but TBF,things could change massively between now and the release of the final game.

You will then be able to determine what cards are more suited for the game at launch.

The next gen of GPU's are rumoured Q4 this year. You could always go for something like the 7950 to tide you over, good value to performance and a good upgrade from what you have now.

Agreed.

If you want decent performance until September pick up a cheap card now. Either a 7950 (under £200 would be perfect) or a 7850 (around £130) if you want to save some money. Both will give you great FPS. They should hold thier re-sale value too..

Best to pick one up now and wait until Q4 and splash on the new toys. :)

Cat is there any Titan benchmarks?

I have not seen any yet and the best card that site will test is a GTX690.

Its safe to say it will be faster in the Alpha than an HD7970GE,but OTH how much faster it will be is another question.

Edit!!

I would wait until pcgameshardware posts some results,as they have a Titan in their test setup.

Remember, there are cheap HD7970 cards which are pre-overclocked which match the HD7970GE.

This one is meant to be good AFAIK:

The MSI HD7970 Lightning BE,can be had for under £400,but TBH once you start hitting £350+ that is very, very expensive graphics card territory IMHO!!:p:D

Gigabyte also have UK RMA.

Also,don't ignore the HD7950 and GTX670 too.

It seems the OcUK site is having some issues.

The card is a Gigabyte HD7970 Windforce 3X,but the version running at 1100MHZ and it was around £330 to £340.

Regarding the HD7950,the MSI HD7950 3GB TF and the Gigabyte HD7950 Windforce 3X are good cards.

On the GTX670 side, the MSI GTX670 Power Edition and Gigabyte GTX670 Windforce 3X are well regarded too.

I'm looking to upgrade as well, but think I will wait till the 8000 series comes out as from what I have seen they are quite a bit better, worst case the 7000 series will drop in price when they come out.
