Hello all,

I currently have a not too old (just out of warranty unfortunately) Razer Carcharias headset and as a lot of my previous headsets over the years, has developed a wiring fault in the microphone/volume switch, causing sound to drop from one ear when moved slightly.

My friend recommended I try the Logitech G930 wireless but the more I read on wireless headsets, the more unsure I become. I have never considered wireless to be a very reliable technology, e specially in this house which seems to harbor deadspots.

Would you recommend a wireless set or is there a wired set which perhaps has the controls on the headset itself, avoiding the weakspot where the cables enter the volume/microphone switch?

My uses are primarily gaming so a surround sound pair is essential.
Soundcard = Creative Titanium Professional / or onboard "7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek ALC892 Audio Codec), Supports THX TruStudio™"

Thanks in advance,

Hiijinx

I have the G930's, I find the wireless annoying as all it means is I have to recharge the damn thing every 10 hours.

Thought it would be awesome before I bought it, would be able to listen to my tunes around the house etc.

But I just find it annoying, having to charge every 10 hours is pretty poor imo.

The sound quality is fine so I would reccomend the Logitech G35. Apparently they're the same build as a G930 just with a wire. They also have the same buttons on the earpiece as the G930 that you wanted.

Thanks for your reply Eames,

I have looked at the G35 you linked and they do look good, however you don't happen to know of a non USB set by chance? (Trying to save my soundcard)

If not, these do look the business.

After some more digging I have found 2 other possibles - what do you think? (I know there are quite a few Sennheiser fans here but try to be impartial hehe)

(2 year warranty, seems to be a better build quality than Razer, good reviews)

or (budget minded)

Again 2 year warranty, good reviews. The main differences I can see from the two Sennheisers is something called "E.A.R. Technology For Outstanding Sonic Accuracy And Clarity" plus a slightly higher frequency response (23,000 to 28,000) but otherwise has the voume control on the ear and a lift the boom up microphone toggle which seems a much better design than the usual switch.

Anyone think the price difference between the 320 and 360 justifies its performance?

I myself have just bought Sony Pulse Wireless headset. It's the Playstation 3's official headset but it also works on PC. I find the sound quality to be amazing and are very comfortable whilst wearing.

Pros:

Very Comfortable
Base Impact Technology
Good build quality
Built in microphone

Cons:

Battery life could be better. (10h)
7.1 virtual surround sound doesn't seem to work on PC (or I'm doing it wrong)

stfu I was interested in the sony pulse headset, i was wondering how do they compare to similarly priced pc gaming headsets if you have any experience of headsets in the same price bracket?

my main qualm with the g930 is actually the comfort, I would be willing to put up with the meagre battery life if the pulse is very comfortable as you say. are they fine to wear for extended periods?

thanks

Nice, I'm interested in that Sony headset. ATM I'm using a regular wireless Sony headphones (MDR RF810RK), and to be perfectly honest, It's the best I've used so far, with very decent sound. But of course, doesn't have a mic, although has plenty of battery life and range.

I was looking for a wireless headset for ages at a decent price, and could never find one that ticked all the boxes.

I bought the G35 a few weeks ago and really did not like them, the headset was really uncomfortable and the sound just seemed really quiet even compared to my old plantronics dsp 500 headset. I have also owned the G930 which did not have these faults but the thing has to be on charge literally every day if you are a heavy user. I have picked up a sennheiser pc360 from a competitor today for £145 and it is light years ahead of the G35 in both sound quality and comfort.
