Took delivery of my new motor on Friday
Traded in my e92 and got myself a nice XF.
Needed 4 doors, so decided to get a bit of an upgrade at the same time. First time I have got a diesel by choice, and it took a lot of persuading to even get me in one. But having driven one, I am very impressed. It feels very refined fullstop, not only for a diesel. It only sounds slightly diesely on lift off when cold.
Its feels fast to accellerate, and really pulls well, but also very differently to the petrol BM. The power feels relentless rather than "peaky" in the 330i. I suppose the 330i feels more exciting when pushing it, as you get the high revs, the noise and harder ride, but for general day to day the jag feels much more comfortable, but still has the poke to have fun especially with the TracDSC, Dynamic mode and sports gear selection in effect.
Sitting in the Jag is much more relaxing affair, its wider seats, more room and blue trim-lighting seems to ooze a quality and sophisitcation without being too fuddy-duddy. Although unders closer inspection, the interior trim quality might sit slightly lower than the BM for its overall finish. However, this does not really detract from the experience.
The sat nav, although newer is lacking the perspective mode of the 330i and this bugs me slightly (mainly because i have grown used to it!) but the addition of the touch-screen and easy to navigate system makes up for this. No longer do i have to use a twisty knob to enter letters, i can actually use a qwerty onscreen keyboard to tap away on.
The only niggle I have so far is the fuel filler cap seems to be sitting a little proud, so will be dropping into Jag to get this looked at under warranty
