Hello all,

I am looking into buying a HD7950 and this seems to fit the bill of what i want and in reasonable price range.

But im not sure which one to buy as my case is only a mid tower so airflow is not all that i would be looking for a card that quickly get any heat out of the case.

Ive tried reading a few overviews/reviews of the cards and it seems that HIS HD 7950 IceQ seems the best for me i just need a second opinion before i buy anything.

Any suggestions on this matter ?

Thanks :)

Welcome! I actually just ordered a Gigabyte WF 3X 7950 and overlooked this HIS card. On first looks it looks adequate for your needs concerning the exhaust type cooler.

The only reason why I had the Twin Frozr, Windforce and Lightning in mind is because I would rather keep to dual slot for possible xfire. With some of the other cards like this one, the cooler looks to hang a bit over two slots. Also, I have a large side case fan and a reasonable amount of airflow.

I just got my HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB deliverd today , temps idel desk top in the 30cs stays in 60sc on load in valley benchmark , & on load in valley I hardly heard any sound. so I can recommend this card.
I also have a Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD 7950 Windforce 3X another great card

That's some really good temps there. Does the cooler just take up two slots or does it cover a little bit of the next available slot? Have you run it in CF with the Windforce yet? I think I'll keep an eye out for this card if I go CF in the future and it fits alright.

Hi there,

I've got both the GB and the HIS IceQ.

The IceQ is perfect for cases either with not optimal airflow or a second card in a crossfire set up. It takes up slightly more than two slots so if you had it in the top slot and something else underneath it will be very close. In the bottom slot in a CF set up it's perfect though.

The Gigabyte Windforce is touch noisier but it does run cooler overall. It takes up 2 slots.

Looks like a very decent card then as long as your not OCing too much I don't see any reason why it would not be a good buy considering your needs OP.

Thanks for the advice! :)
I decided to buy the HIS HD 7950 IceQ as it was on sale on here a few days after me posting this.

1 problem.

Since i installed the card i have been getting weird blocks appear when doing general things (see image along top) but playing when games it doesn't happen at all. It just happens in random places on the screen normally along the top but can appear anywhere!

Can anyone advise on this? I have checked temps which are fine at 45o-50o. I have also before installing the card i got rid of all graphics drivers from my pc just in case that caused problems aswell.

Thanks :)

(not sure if this is the correct section to ask this)
