It seems that every time I watch the news now, there is always a bunch of people standing in the background with signs proclaiming various conspiracies, or bizarre political statements. I remember these in the past, but the number of them seems to have substantially increased in recent months.

Am I just becoming more observant, or is the number genuinely rising?

They'll mostly be upper-middle class Trustafarians who dedicate their lives to 'protesting' about just how unfair the world is.

Its weird, you only seem to see conspiracy nutters in big numbers in rich, developed countries. In other words we are lucky in the west to enjoy a lifestyle that afford some of us the time and energy to put into bull**** causes.

I blame Youtube. I get these idiots on Facbook going on about conspiracy stuff, saying that we are all "sheeple" and you can't trust the main stream media etc. So they won't trust mainstream news but they will trust somebody on a Youtube channel. Go figure.

I had to delete a few friends on Facebook.

Also I blame The History channel, loads of conspiracy rubbish on there.

It was only through reading the threads on here about the moon landings and 911 did I realise that there is a large minority of conspiracy theorists. Having a quick look through some of the CT forums seems to show that for any major or unexpected event there will be a conspiracy theory. Not many seem to be supported by any real scientific research and there are some outright mind- blowing statements. On the London bombings, the CTs showed a photograph of a seat that had been blown out of the bus - because this was not a tangled piece of wreckage and still in one piece the bombing must have been staged. And that was the basis of the theory. Problem is, post this "theory" on the internet and it must be true.

It's simple, The end of the world didn't happen in 2012 so now they're quickly trying to look for a new one to latch on to

I think it's on the rise. Far to easy for nutters to air their views, all they have to do is make it sound half believable and the public subconcisly pick it up and most don't check what they say.

the problem is that fiction is now better than the rubbish reality that many of us have to endure

its just the modern day equivelant to religion. people want to believe because its more interesting than the truth .

sometimes i sit and wish that robot hitler would come down from the nazi moon base ( the dark side of course) so him and the dinosaurs from mars (we found their fossils in crash landed spaceships) could fight the lizard new world at the robosaurizard arena underneath denver airport
