Hi guys,

I wanted some extra lightning cables to use for the car and as spares so went ahead and ordered some from Play. Anyway when I plug them in the phone becomes very laggy and almost unresponsive when trying to use the touch screen. This stops as soon as the 3rd party wire is unplugged. Question is why is this happening? and are these chargers doing any damage to my phone? many thanks

Don't the "real" cables have some kind of auth chip in them?

I'm assuming the "lag" is something to do with either the lack of, or an incorrectly programmed chip.

Is the phone actually slowing down, or is just the touch screen becoming responsive? I've seen on other phones where odd grounding issues have caused a touch screen to be unresponsive (but not the whole phone)

I think they do indeed, I remember it taking a while for the Chinese to be able copy it with success.

It is just the touch screen from what I can tell. Just debating whether to use these 3rd party chargers or not, having just had one iPhone 5 replaced with battery problems I am loathe to risk damaging another!

I got a in car charger of eBy about 6 weeks ago and its dead now. No point spending £3 on a fake charger. Just better of buying the Original. It's what i've done now...

Don't bother will all the Ebay cheap stuffs...

I got a few Chinese from eBay and amazon other than no sound support I've not had problems

We got 4 iPhone 5's 2 x mini iPad and iPad 3 & 4 in house so plenty of use no one complained yet ....
