AMD Sea Islands Rumours.

AMD have been talking lately about how "it's on" with regards to performance wars with nVidia again, I don't think they care about single card though, so it's all just hot air.

Yeah because a limited run part that costs 3x as much as the 7970 for 40% more speed makes Nvidia the boss right? At every other price point amd have them beat.

Edited. Keep it civil. No need for name calling - Rilot

Aren't those Anand benches on pre 12.11 drivers? If so add another 10-15% on.

Yes, Anand don't update that.

The 7970 is actually ~ as fast as a 6990, thats 6950's in CF, so your talking ~70 -90%, not 40%

But but I thought 12.11 didn't give a large performance boost and it came many months ago? :D ;) :p

We don't need to go over this again Rusty. We all agreed you were wrong the first time. ;)

680>7970 at release
both even around june - when ghz edition came out - amd maybe slightly faster as reviews showed
7970 >680 at 12.11

We need to change the comparisons. IE:

Titan>7970 at release

It is no good comparing Nvidia's mid range card (680) to AMD's top card :D

The ace up AMD's sleeve will be that all PS4/Xbox Loop development will be optimised for AMD first by default and then Nvidia later. No AMD evolved programme required, all developers will be forced to squeeze every last drop out performance out of GCN.

That has to be worth around 5-10% of performance on every game for the next 5 years.

This is something that raw numbers will not be able to convey. AMD Execs must be doing back-flips right now.

Oh how you would love that, nah. Not gona happen :p

Seriously though, well done to nvidia for that fightback.

GCN vs Kepler Scores: Kepler 2 / GCN 1.

But just wait for the 8970 :D

I look forward to the 8970 and I am sure it will be a beast. Hopefully not as expensive as Titan....

I wouldn't be bothered with the 8000 series or anything better or equally from the green team until AMD throws out streamroller and hopefully on am3+ socket, as I don't think my current minimum fps in BF3 MP and a like will be any better due to my current fx 8350.

Running a P-II x6 1090T i get 5% CPU bottlenecking at most 2% of the time running a 7870 clocked to 7950 BE performance.

The only reason i know it there is because i spent a lot of time looking for it for my reviews.

Going up the steps at flag A on Metro, main air base hilltop on Wake Island, a couple of places on the Karkand map....... (and only on full 64P maps)

Its not even noticeable unless your looking for it, let alone dip your frame rates within a thousand miles of it being to low.

But if i had 7950's in CF i would get much greater bottlenecks, however it would not go below 60 FPS. the only thing that will cure that is an i7.
