Macbook goes dim, light, dim, light on my TV - please prevent a murder!!

Hello!

I have a display port to HDMI cable that goes from my macbook to my TV.

It sort of intermittently goes dim and then normal brightness again on my TV. Is there any setting or such that can prevent this? It is driving me crazy!

Nothing in the MB that would cause that. Sure it's not a auto contrast setting on the TV? Disabled it on mine.
