Just Cause dev claims “PS4 will out-power most PCs for years

8 core amd , 8gb ram and a 7850
hardcore for such a little box or maybe thats the reason they haven't showed it yet?
but no match for most gaming rigs

8 low power cores though.
If they can eek twice as much out of that 7850/7870 (As it's neither, more inbetween) than a desktop 7850, then they've got ultimately a 7970 for raw performance (Excluding other stuff like compute etc)

Won't it be a downclocked gpu anyway to save on power and heat?

lol he is right  so many to jump in so quick. what you must remember many people have dells not nerd pcs like us lot :p

so a ps4 will be the equivalent of a med to highend pc for a cheap price. hmm that reminds me must ask him about just cause 3 .

even so as a game dev he SHOULD know that gamers use decent pc's as compared to office desktops...

Hmm well I'm not bothering if it all just works straight out if the box. Unless there are driver issues, dodgy patches and other hair-pulling issues what is the point?

its 399 pounds ! (you can even pre order at some places)

400 dollars usa. dont go on me about the exchange that's how much it is.

Aeleys

have you looked at the specs even most mid range rigs will be slower than the ps4. so what he has put is right. if you took ocuk as a percentage for wed be like 1 percent of gaming

most people who game on pcs have older dual core rigs maybe 8800 gt or something like and play valve games. we are the minority. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey

so like i said before what he put is true.

Its all marketing hype, PC's have always been more powerful than console at their time of release in the past.

Do people actually have driver issues and dodgy patchs ?

Not had any for years myself, PC's are pretty much idiot proof now

There has not been any announcement on the price as of yet, retailers accepting pre orders have just taken a guess really. Regardless, £400 is the maximum it will retail for ( I personally believe it will be less that this) as they won't make the same mistake as with the PS3 pricing. Its quite the little powerhouse and Microsoft will have to do something special to come close to the PS4 spec.

microsoft dont need to compete specswise

theres will be 100 quid cheaper but there selling point is they have the games behind them more than sony.

also as said they are the ps4 prices. not ifs they are.

I have yet to see any kind of info on the PS4 price. I work for a large retailer and there has been no indication on price and stores are generally taking a stab in the dark so how do you know that's the price then?

sorry the image is poor quality .. this was taken from 2011 ... and ive skimmed a lot of this topic , but to say "most pc" will have better graphics than the ps4 might be pushing it .. and thast just by going by these numbers.....way under 1% in world terms imo

The PS3 was inflated due to the Bluray drive. At launch it was one of the cheapest bluray players available, and you got a console thrown in for free :).

The PS4 won't have a significant expensive component. Will still be expensive though.

Really?

Pricing has not been confirmed.

'most' meaning that it will more powerful than what the majority still use according to steam , which is dual cores with old gfx cards. Most readers on this forum shouldn't even be reading his comments because we know it doesn't apply to us.

No, most gamers don't use decent pc's, enthusiasts often do, people with more disposable cash do, most gamers do not play on 7850's and higher, most people game on £100 gpu's.

Considering how much more power is available without windows, through low level hardware access, and having so much more control, a 7850 class gpu on a console won't be beaten by a £100 gpu for a least a few years, so he's spot on.

quad cores are fairly common but higher clocked incredibly optimised for quad cores aren't and a lower clocked octo core will be equivalent to a very highly clocked quad core in reality. But gaming is about gpu, not cpu, they aren't running 7970's in xfire looking for 120fps so a hugely powerful cpu would be a waste.

Yep, I agree with Skeeter. I don't think he's talking about PCs that are used in offices, he's talking about PCs that are used for playing games, and he's probably right too.

Most people have much lower spec PCs than people on here.

+1

something i've noticed is its only really us enthusiasts that have top end cards along with i5/7s etc.

i know a lot of people that do pc gaming, but off the top of my head, one runs an x1950, another runs a 9600GT, But, they both play WoW. a few more have similar rigs. i know my rig isn't top notch, but it would blow theirs away.

Granted, its not really the kind of gaming you find on here, but i bet he added them as part of his statement.
