Hi I'm poo when it comes to building pc's (compatibility wise) would this basket be a good system and work?

Asus GeForce GTX 680 DirectCU II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Assassin's Creed III & FTP Currency x 2

Asus Rampage IV Extreme Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard

Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - OEM

Corsair Dominator 16GB (4x4GB) PC3-14900C9 1866MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMP16GX3M4X1866C9) **SPECIAL**

Yes it is compatible, but what is the system to be used for? I presume gaming? as money could be saved quite easily if necessary.

Just gaming really.
My only concern is the ram with the board is that the best ram I could use with that board? And is quad channel compatible?

Others will jump in shortly with the suggestions of an i5 3570k, z77 motherboard along with 8GB Ram and either a 7950 or gtx670. As it will save money for a very similar performance level.

But before then...With the Ram on your curent spe,c you will have to think about the large heatsinks on it which may cause issues if you're using a large air heat sink.

Quad channel is also more of a marketting gimmick as it refers to the amount of sticks in each kit. Samsung green would be some good alternative ram due to its low profile and overclocking potential.

nice spec and kit, what cooler do you use as oem doesn't come with one and most of the top coolers can be large and cover ram etc, also thinking about height for ram etc. (but it's a good set mind you and price)

also what psu are you usig etc?

I have an 850w psu also it will be going in a cooler master scout cm storm case,

Luckily you don't need to service closed loop coolers. What you may need to do is clean dust out the radiator and possibly reapply new paste once a year.. Nothing harder than installing it in the first place, which is relitivly painless.

I think I would be capable of doing that, I thought you had to change fluid every 6 months and bleed. I'm sure I've read that in someone's post before but I may be wrong.

You're right but that is for custom loops.. Closed loop coolers are the lazy (and more cost effective) alternitive. The cooling will be similar if not better than the top air coolers.

lot less noise for most, less fuss, easy to do and maintain, most never clean air cooled fans tbh so as long as you remember to clean liquid cooled it will remain good and cool, same as air fan's, once a year is plenty, twice in a poor and dusty case like mine :)

Sorry to be a pest but would you be able to link me to these coolers that would fit my board and cpu?
