Can anyone advise on what RAM actually will work in the above iMac.

The g/f's will be arriving early next week and i'm looking at dropping 32GB straight in, I've used the crucial RAM finding tool but its comes in a tad over £200 for the 32GB.

OcUK have got some Corsair Vengeance at £160 CL10.

Some people on the US Mac forums claim to have had problems with sticks with heatsinks on them, while others claim that any old RAM will do the trick providing the timings are matched, which I can undertsand.

I can get some CL11 stuff from a manufacturer i've never heard of for cheapcheap but I don't like the idea of that.

Can someone confirm (or deny) the Corsair stuff that OcUK sell is the dog danglies so I get some ordered please :-)

Cheers

I would like to know this. Raymond has done this so hopefully he will pop in and let us know what he did.

I paid less than that, the Crucial stuff was £120 when I got it, minus 7% cash back so even less.

There is no heatsink and I think Crucial stuff are CL11 which I don't think it matters that much really. And I wouldn't think there would be room for a heatsink and if anything, it just get in between the space, which is already lacking, between the 2 sticks. They are right next to each other.

DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 •

You could get 2 sets of these

But I got a set of 32G of Crucial as they were matched pairs, just to be safe.
