Hmm. Sounds like he plans to reduce/abandon aid etc from the Church and do more proselytizing instead? "Shunning worldliness" and trying to avoid "ending up a pitiful NGO" certainly sounds like it.

Not really. You could equate it (imo anyway) to a business that is selling well at the moment, but risks losing its focus.

The only way the church has been able to help people is through an active faith that has inspired people.

I think its a very very positive move that will hopefully revitalis the church and establish a happy balance.

So you don't understand taking the **** out of an organisation that claims moral authority while suppressing convictions of child abuse from the upper echelons? Yeah you probably would think I was a dribbler then, wouldn't you.

Of course I'm all too happy to see the new guy change tact, but I suspect it's a case of meet the new guy, same as the old guy. Time will tell.
