Hi all,

I am planning a night out in Notts on Sat night with a girl I am seeing. It will just be the two of us and I want to go out somewhere with a decent atmosphere, and plays a bit of R&B and Hip Hop... or even multiple rooms with different vibes in. I don't want anywhere that is too stuck up, but also want to avoid the chavs and drunken louts.

I welcome the suggestions :)

Only been to Nottingham once but went to Nottingham Rock City! Had a really good time, there is a pub\bar that people go into before heading to Rock City but I can't remember the name now :)

Speak Easy or Horn in the Hand. Just around the corner from Rock City.

That would be either The Horn in Hand or The Speakeasy... which are now Spanky Van Dyke's and The Horn in Hand, respectively. Both decent enough places to hang for a while despite the former's rather gaudy title.

As to the RnB/Hip Hop, I can't advise unfortunately as I'm not into that. Though I have found that the establishments that play such music as standard do appear to attract a more rowdy/aggressive/loutish standard of clientele on the occasions that I've been dragged along to them. Mind you, this is usually closer to 2am when I've been drunk enough to think it was a good idea!

If you want to just chill with the two of you, OP, I'd whole-heartedly recommend Saltwater at the corner house. Great staff, but drinks can be a little pricey.

Pit and Pendulum :)

Oooh, forgot about there! Good atmosphere, though I haven't been in yonks so have no idea what it's like these days.

Get her through all seven Deadly Sins cocktails and see where the night goes. :D

Probably hunched over a toilet while you hold her hair back.

Only been on the one night out in Nottingham, where we went to Baa Bar and Rock city. Rock city is great, but I'm not sure if its something I would recommend for just the two of you.

Obligatory "don't go to nottingham you will get shot!" comment.

City centre is far too busy and the pubs/clubs far too loud, and oh dear I sound like an old geezer, sheesh..

Hit up Tilt mate (near All Saints - forgot the street).

Intimate little cocktail bar, usually has a live Jazz band playing too. Wicked atmosphere.

The two blokes who run it are sound as well, just let them know what kind of cocktail you're after and they'll sort you out!

Best of luck with your bird as well, sir!

Thanks for input guys :)

I already have booked a hotel for us to stay at, and we are also going to Hooters for something to eat :)

I just want to go out and have fun really, as I am past the stage where I really need to impress her. I will want to go to a bar or bars before we go to a club and hit up the dancefloor!! What is the Pitcher and Piano like?
