Congrats!!!

I know everyone always says it but enjoy the first months because they really do fly past so quickly and things your little one does one day will be gone the next!!!

It's a wonderful feeling being a Dad!!! :)

This is true. It's nuts how one day your kid is just a noisy little blob that you can plonk somewhere and be 100% sure they won't move around, then the next minute they're in nursery, running around, answering back and stealing your gadgets!

My STRONGEST advice to OP: Do NOT do baby-led sleep timing/feeding! You will regret it! We did that with our first and it was a NIGHTMARE. 6 months or so of lost evenings because there was no routine or fixed timing for feeds and sleep. With our second we set a schedule and started putting them both to bed at the same time (7pm) so we got our evenings back. Best decision we ever made! Now both of them sleep through the night pretty much and we get LOADS more sleep and quiet time in the evenings.

Congratulations!

My advice to you is to ignore all advice given to you. People will categorically condemn everything you do and insist that their way is better. This will get incredibly annoying. Do what works for your family and your daughter. Every family and every baby is different.

Enjoy it. You probably won't get any meaningful sleep for a long time. My lad is 4 months old and I haven't slept for more than 4-5 hours at any one time since he was born. However, being a Dad is the best feeling in the world and it'll take a lot more than sleep deprivation to wipe the smile off your face!

Quick question, will you be there at the birth? As in right there in the room? When i evenutally have kids i'm not sure if i want to see my poor gf screaming and shouting like she's out of The Exorcist

Also pooing herself (they don't give enemas anymore)

I'm a down the pub kind of guy. OP, stop panicing - all will be fine. Well apart from the rest of your life that is. That is ruined. :D Worth it though. Also; Congratulations.

That reminds me of when I told my Grandad about the birth. I thought he was joking but he actually couldn't understand that I was in the room. When I got the point across he said ""What? You were in the room? But the men are supposed to sit outside and smoke?":D

It's all a bit new age man to me. I mean watching the head pop out a vagina doesn't seem appealing. Sure be there just after to hold the wee bairn but in the delivery suite? No thanks.

Thankfully (I think...) I'm not having another one so I don't have to worry about the prospect of doing that.

God I hope this is what I get away with if/when it happens, that's what the GF (ooh fiance) has implied anyway..
