Employed as Maternity Cover

Does anyone know what the legal rights are for someone that is being employed as Maternity cover?

Would they basically be a contract worker?

Is there anything in particular this type of employment differs legally from permanent staff?

Well you are filling in once said person returns you will most likely go unless you prove fantastic they may find a job for you.

Yes I understand that.

But more in terms of legal rights. Can the screw you over before it's even over?

If its a decent company then no they will treat you like a permanent employee, if they are a bad company they could screw you over yes.

Although this says as an agency worker, it's the same as an applied position for a temporary post (maternity/short-term cover)
