Some advice please;

Although I've done this countless times it always seems that there is something thats missed when looking at a used car, does anyone have a checklist that they've found on the internet or something to go through when looking over a car? Maybe copy and paste the below and add to it making a definitive check list?

I'm off to look at one tomorrow, its an early start and 200 mile round trip so I want to be on the ball!

For example,

Check tyres are matching and all have decent tread
Check all
Check history (Cam belt etc)
Etc
Etc

The above is a good general checklist - however there it is always worth doing some research on the specific model you are looking at as most cars have 'common faults' which unless a very rare car can be show stoppers!

Also that said - things like worn tyres or being due a cambelt service can be very good haggling points. I managed to haggle a good chunk off a Lexus I bought a number of years back as it was due a cambelt, knowing full well my friendly mechanic wouldn't be charging me dealer cost!

I'd want to know those things before I even set off to look at a car, especially if it was hundreds of miles away.
