Hey guys,

I just got a pretty cheapo steering wheel for my PC and just wanted to play a few games.

I do like racing games, but wanted something a bit slower paced and takes advantage of a manual gearbox.

I've tried euro truck sim 2, but i fancied something in a car rather than a truck. are there any games that spring to mind that are a bit slower paced than most racing ones, but are still fun.

Ideally it would be a nice city driving car simulator, but i haven't really had much hope.

Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Test Drive Unlimited.

I tried TDU2 but I lasted about 30 seconds before turning it off.

May as well give that a shout, cheers.

City Car Driving?

I did have a look at that, didn't look too greatly built but yeah. cheers.

Slower paced?

May i ask why

Just get a racing sim and have some fun :D

To be honest dude, I'm awful at speeds really. Since everything's on a track i would prefer more open road driving.

With all the games like need for speed where you go like 300Mph it just all seems a bit too much.

I'd like to get a feel for more manual driving things. I've never really felt anything i like too much.

Pick up Shift 2. You can drive cars of all different powers from an old mini that only go's less than 100 mph all the way through to 250 mph cars. There is loads of tracks of different classes from small tight city tracks all the way through to f1 tracks.
Online is probably dead now though if you were hoping to race others, but there is loads to do in single player anyway.

Test Drive Unlimited.

Sadly the TDU servers were switched off late last year. You can still play it offline, which is very enjoyable if you can live without the multiplayer.

TDU2 servers will be around for a while yet, but unfortunately it's gash (IMO).

TDU2 is pretty decent for casual driving around, its got detailed implementations of many cars with fairly close handling to the real thing* (atleast the few I've had experience of actually driving) great roads/scenery but let down by a few issues, racing is mostly naff both the actual races and trying to compete with anyone online as you get pretty bad lag in close proximity to other players and some of the camera positions aren't the best and lack the ability to adjust them unlike TDU1.

I find it one of the better games for using with a wheel tho aside from rather iffy forcefeed back.

As a side note I'd be cautious about GRID with wheels - some are ok but the majority seem to have an issue with steering where you basically get 5 wheel positions with very little granularity inbetween regardless of what setup you use making steering almost impossible with many wheels.

* In terms of unique characteristics of those cars handling rather than the overall driving model i.e. the GT-R has launch control (always on), you can feel the electronic assistance kicking in when punishing it just like IRL, the big American V8s have masses of torque steer to deal with and so on.

I will also vouch for tdu2. The physics are much improved over 1. It will take a while to get up enough money to be able to 'waste' it on interesting cars like A 300SL. But driving around aimlessly is great fun in TDU2. Really nice scenery!

Just Picked up TDU2 for £2.84 off shopto

Also downloaded Raceroom off steam which seems to be quite good actually, still quite quick, but nothing too insane.

Since there are a lot of sims about, i would love a simulator just like euro truck driver, but with a bit high standard of cars. I would like to have a little drive in a Lambo on the roads rather than on a linear track.

Test drive seems to have a fair bit to offer, ill check it out in a tad.

cheers guys
