I got a Gigabyte 7950 from OCUK the other day. It's a rev2 so it's on the 7970 pcb and has a 6-pin and an 8-pin power socket on it. A normal 7950 only has 2 6-pins. It turns out that my PSU wasn't shipped with 8-pin cables so I now have a few options.

Continue using the dual molex to 8-pin connector that was in the box
Buy a 6 to 8-pin adapter
Use the two 6-pin plugs I have

What is the best choice out of these since as far as I know they're all valid options.

Thanks in advance

Not sure which is best, I'd think that the 6 to 8 Pin would be your best option..

Don't know if that'll make a difference to what your already using though..

I'd go with 6 pin to 8 pin.

No, my psu is modular and has 4 connections for molex/sata and 2 6 pins. I'll get an adapter then and put it on the second socket so it's on a different rail. Just wondered if anyone knew if the 8 pin was only there because it was a 7970 board and I'd be alright with 2 6's

No, you must use 1 x 6 and 1 x 8 pin connectors

My Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7970 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 as a 6 pin & 8 pin
PCI-E Power Sockets , I was lucky as my Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 850w
cables got 6 pin + 2 pin to make 8 pin on the cables
