Hi guys,
My brother has decided he wants a new gaming PC... And has decided to try and build it himself for the first time.
I told him about this site and he's asked me to get him a good build . He's as clueless as I am when it comes to hardware, so I ask you guys.
Can anyone put together a £800-900 gaming rig please.
Dont need an ssd or hdd as he already has them.
Said he would prefer a nice looking non-windowed case. (As if that matters)

Thanks in advance.

Would that be better than 1 gpu of the equivalent combined value of 2 for Sli/crossfire?
Is it difficult to do?

Xfire or SLI means running two GPUs together.

My spec allows this to happen you just need to buy another 7950 GPU at some point. If he won't do this then the Z77-D3H mobo is a good shout and you can drop the PSU to 500W

SSDs are awesome. If he doesn't have one then he really should especially on that budget.

Very simple to do. Just plug and play.

However, you need a powerful PSU (750W for 2 x 7950's), a compatible motherboard (will say 8x 8x crossfre support), and of course two video cards.

Personally, I wouldn't bother at standard resolutions. I always go for a single powerful card. Less noise, less heat, no need for a big PSU, or big airflow constraints. Simpler, cheaper, and pretty much all you need for HD resolutions. Crossfire / SLI for multi resolution displays, or big resolutions (2560 x 1440 for example, which is 50% over 1920 x 1080p).

Ah, think we'll just stick to the one gpu then.
Can I get a revised list then please? :)
No ssd, hdd, plans for SLI or Xfire.

Oh, and I'm planning to overclock the CPU a little, maybe to a safe 4.2(?) if its the i5, and maybe just a little on the gpu. I don't want to have to mess around with the voltages as I've no clue on that part, but I might add an extra fan or 2 to the case to maximise cooling.
So any adjustments in the components for saving money or shifting how much he invests on other components?
I want to make sure we get the most bang for our buck.

For a 3570K, 4.2, 4.4 should be easily attainable with a decent CPU cooler and motherboard, and without too much effort.
