I am on the market for a new watch for my father, he has been doing lots of DIY work around my house for the past 6 weeks, and has done a sterling job, and saved me ££££.

So as a reward, I would like to buy him a new watch. my budget is around £300.

For years, he has been buying the classic fake ones from Turkey, so its about time he had a decent watch, and stop wearing the ones that turn your wrist green :D

Thanks in advance :)

If only there was a huge watch thread :D

Have a look in there to get an idea. I would say that if he does a lot of DIY then a robust dive watch would be a good bet. Seiko in particular have great value pieces that are well made and tough.

I did have a quick look in their, but most of them are well out of my price range.

I'll have a look at Seiko watches, but I have not got a clue, who makes decent watches, as I never wear one.

How about a 1940/50's Omega seamaster.
Check out ebay

Although avoid the ones with the date. I bought my dad one with the date and you have to go through 24hrs for each day. Took an hour just to get it to the correct date. And then it only last about 24 hours of being unworn and you have to start again.

it should have a 'double pull' one for time, one for date

good watches the Citizen Eco-Drive, but just not 'special' ,for instance I have one, I also have a Casio,

but I also have a Omega PO, Omega Speedmaster Moon watch, a Steinhart, and a couple of other dress watches

Yeah I have a eco drive, nice watch has always kept perfect time. Do some watches not keep time? I don't know.

Anyway the charge has never shown anything but full and I'm indoors most of the day.

Timefactors do some lovely watches around that budget, I would add them to Christopher Ward and Steinheart. They do a nice manual wind chronograph for £265 prs-5, some nice divers around £300 as well.
