A small crack in my windscreen

Give it a few good whacks with the palm of your hand. Show him the results. Hold out hand. Wait while he opens his wallet.

I did this once. My 530i (RIP) had an annoying chip with a 5mm crack radiating from it. It was right on the edge of my line of vision but outside danger zone and had been annoying me for a couple of months. I showed it to my brother-in-law and thumped it as a gesture of my annoyance, to be met with a loud 'CRACK', much to the amusement of said bro-in-law. The crack was now about a foot long. Needless to say the windscreen was replaced a couple of days later.

I fully understand this. But I am 17 and do not have the money to sort it by myself, hence having to rely on my dad who refuses to do anything about it.

Hang on while I call the samaritans for you :p. I thought this was an "is it serious" thread, not a "how do I make my dad pay" thread. If it's the latter then gd can probably give you some great tips.

That looks promising, cheers :)

It is a "is it serious" thread. But clearly I now need to look into how to resolve it after finding out that it is indeed serious ;)

Find a copper and ask for a producer on the condition - and replacement - of the windscreen?

Is dad going to leave you on the wrong side of the law?

Then wait until it breaks properly, just find some speed bumps cold windscreen warm heating and the crack will be huge in no time according to the adverts! :)

Drive it until the crack spreads round the windscreen, which it will do, then get your dad to pay for a new one. Until that time, I wouldn't be overly worried about it... Unless of course you are also coming up to MOT time, then I'd be showing Dad the fail sheet (because it will fail) and get him to pay for it.. :)

There is nothing illegal about that windscreen surely? It's not even an MOT failure is it?

If the spiders cross the centre zone A for more than 10mm then it's an MOT failure.

Elsewhere on the screen is 40mm iirc.

It's hard to tell from that photo, but I'd say they are longer than 4cm.
