EVGA GTX570 - What can I expect from this card?

Hi all,

Recently purchased a EVGA GTX570 from the MM. Not had a 'highish' end graphics card for a while.

Installed, ok (It's HUGE) idle temps are 43-45 with fan speed at 40%. Just downloaded 3DMark 11 so I'm going to run that see what it gets.

I'll post scores when it's tested.

Thanks all :)

What res are you gaming at?

I've got a 570 (MSI), and initially was very impressed but Metro brings it to it's knees in places, plays Battlefield excellently though at 1080p. :D

sold my EVGA GTX570 on the MM a few weeks back. I'd had the card for 2 years and was very happy with it. It only went in the end as it was struggling in the latest titles with all the bells and whistles on at 1440P.

At 1080p it will probably last you a few years yet.

I've not got any games installed yet :p My monitor is 1920x1080 but not sure what I'll run games at. What res would be good? Also, DVI vs HDMI?

What sort of 3DMark 11 score should I expect?

Run games at 1920x1080 and when you see it struggle, just nock down the AA a little. Nice cards and still very powerful :)

Yeah, aside from fairly high levels of AA, this card will handle almost all games cranked up to full at 1080 / 1200p. I have an overclocked 480 (which is only a little faster), so I can say this from experience. :)

Plays most things fine for me with a gainward phantom 570gtx. Idle about 44 atm with 30% fan speed.

This is coupled with a 3570k which i think is a good pairing imo. It isnt overclocked and still plays all the games i want it to with almost all high settings in games. I use fxaa when i can instead of the older aa methods as imo its good enough for most titles.

I got mine from MM also for 135 iirc. Which i thought was a reasonable price considering it was one of the 570gtx best cards as the cooler is considered top notch afaik anyhow.

What is your cpu btw?

I had an EVGA 570 and found it maxed nearly all my games. BF3 on Ultra was fine with some things dropped to keep frame rate up. Otherwise I would say 95% of my games were maxed.

Only sold it to upgrade to a 7970 to really max out BF3 and future proof myself a bit. Great card

It's basically a GTX 480 with less ram, runs cooler and sucks less power. First thing you should do is overclock it, should do 800Mhz easy, near enough GTX580 performance at this speed.

I've got the same CPU as you mate. i5 3570k. I was running 3D Mark 11 and the temps were around the 78 marker and the fan was obviously pushing quite hard - Is this normal for load?

I have the same card and ir does get toasty under load. I hit mid 70's on 3d mark 11 too.. Nothing to worry about.

Have you got a fan profile sorted on afterburner?

Mine runs really well, even with far cry 3, even though I only set it to high, runs smooth.

Interesting, I might have to look into this. Haven't overclocked a GPU in a while (probably since 8800GTS days), be interested to see what it's capable of.

I agree with the others, at full chat it's not half noisy. Again, Metro had it screaming like a good un. :D

nvidia drivers don't seem to spin up the fan (got a 570 too) when it gets hot, I installed evga precsion x but I'm sure thre are other options to make the fan do what it's supposed to.. might be a bug with win 7/8 but I doubt it lol. Mind you I've never had a temp above high 60's.... but I probably haven't pushed it too hard.

they certainly do clock well !

I've just received a 570 as a RMA replacemnet for a 480 - and it clocks like anything

passes valley @ 1.05V - 960/2200 - much higher clocks than I would have expected - temps below 70C too

slight bump in volts 995/2140 is do-able
