Hi all,

I'm looking at the Sony NWZ-E475 E Series at the moment and was wondering if anyone has any other recommendations or opinions?

I don't want to use my phone as an MP3 player anymore, I just want a player that has decent battery life, great sound and focuses on being a music player rather than an all-singing, all-dancing device.

Must be able to play FLAC

Advice appreciated :)

They are very good the Sony players. I've got a A818 which I've had for a few years now. The battery had gone rubbish and wasn't holding charge for long, but I managed to get a replacement off the auction site. It's great to have it back to how it was. Sound quality is very good indeed, as I imagine all their players are.

Can the E475 play FLAC? I'm baffled why anyone would want that on a portable device, let alone something that has 16GB storage.

Cowon players can play FLAC I believe, and they are very good. They are a fair bit more costly though AFAIK.

A Rockboxed Sansa Clip+ with a micro SD card is what I went for when I was in the same boat as you. Small, good battery, life up to 72GB storage (depending on what sd card you go for) and good sound quality.

Seems like it won't play flac but I suppose it isn't the end of the world. I was going to reencode my collection but can dump the old library on there I guess.

The vote of confidence in the Sony makes me think I'll just get one anyhow. :) Cheers!
