Pc graphics. No where near as good as consoles !

It may be cheaper. But i dont just factor in games. My PC is connected to my TV and is my media centre, my games centre, my music station, my social networking...pretty much everything.

Plus the fact that there are some great F2P games like TF2, TrackMania and BF which cant be done on consoles just yet.

I only use my console for FIFA and BO2. (i would play COD on pc if it wasnt for the ridiculous learning curve).

Oh and i built my pc with a 6950 for £350.

Yes PC's are better than consoles.

But a PC that will play all PS4 games at similar or better graphics for the next 3 years will cost a lot more than £400.

Due to the fact that PS4 games are made specifically for PS4 and PC games are made for any of about 5000 different possible configurations of Intel, AMD, Nvidia etc. Drivers, windows, ram etc etc. So not only would the exact same hardware as a PS4 cost more tham £400 but you would need quite a bit better than the PS4 to run the same games. Probably more like £600-£800 tbh.

or just buy a wired controller.........................

anyway as I said before cost of games makes up the difference and a lot more very quickly especially when you consider the steam sales etc which consoles don't have

I use wired controllers primarily because I prefer not having the battery pack on the back (pianist hands) but if you genuinely put a pc in a console's place, which plenty of people do, then you'll need more reach than the wired controllers afford you - plus with multiplayer single screen gaming (dying as it may be, but Fifa etc. remain strong particularly in a console environment), plugging in 4 USB devices would be a pain compared to a single receiver.

Had a quick go at basket filling via OcUK shop, minus monitor.

Gaming Case, PSU, i3-2130 3.4GHz , Motherboard, 8GB DDR3, 7850 2GB, 320GB 7200rpm Hdrive, decent 3200dpi Mouse, gaming keyboard = £450.40

Add to above the XBOX360 control + gaming headset = £493.26

Should easily be on par with PS4 and could even be done far cheaper with bargain bucket parts, or maybe 2nd hand market. :)

Won't come close to a PS4. PS4 won't have all the hang ups of a pc, no bloated os or background tasks going on, games coded to the metal on consoles are just way more efficient than what a pc is capable of producing.

John Carmack reckoned you need a pc with twice the horsepower of a console to produce the same quality. Pc's will outpower the ps4 when it launches but at under £500 it just won't happen.

Plus the games are cheaper, and you get a PC in the bucket as well :P

That said there's still something to be said for consoles and I've said before a console game tends to look more polished than a toned down PC game because they put more work into optimizing it etc.

Actually come to think of it, I'm still trying to get my mate into PC gaming. In the run up to next gen consoles might be when I get him to swap over particularly as his MS wheel has bitten it. Other than in games like BF3 is CPU bottlenecking a serious issue or could we build a system right down to the ground in all areas bar HDD, PSU and GPU?

With regards to bloatware; then go with i5 cpu extra £40.00, still not bad, imo.

It is getting quite boring now : A PC WITH IDENTICAL SPECS TO A PS4 WILL NOT BE AS FAST AS A PS4 FOR GAMING.

Also that is a dual core CPU which will not be good at all for games.

A PC which would be as good / better than a PS4 would cost about £600.

Well yes but it is dual core and new games will be optimised for 4 or more cores...

The PS4 will have 8 cores... So you would need a powerfull quad core CPU.

Well also add a better GPU and then that will be about £600 and it will probably be as good as PS4 for most games.

BTW I am a PC gamer and I like PC more than consoles... I am just saying that you cannot get a PC which will have the same real world performance for under £600.... But for that £600 you will also have everything a PC does.

I still don't think it will be enough. More ram and at least a 7950/670 I would imagine, and I still don't think that will play things comfortably depending on what framerates you expect.

I play mostly at 6048x1080 at the moment but I don't expect to be doing that with next gen console ports. I will even be suprised if my machine is capable of holding next gen console ports to 60fps at 1080p, but until they actually launch we won't really know.

Either way paying more for a pc is fine as its a much more complete experience for me. I always used to buy at least one console, this is the first time I'm really not interested in them at all.

It's all about the games for me, Killzone PS3 games were superb, as was infamous... Both titles coming for the PS4... Really not sure what the xbox is going to dangle in front of me.
