It's a Mini project!

Thought there wasn't really much you could do with MPI's in terms of tuning...or so I've been told.

Enjoy it and wish you best of luck against rust! :D

most i've seen on reading up is about 85-90bhp with a stage 3 so modified head, 1.5:1 rockers, exhaust etc. Any more and you need a mappable ECU to take advantage of things like hotter cams, bore to 1380cc and if you're really flush a 7 port head :D

To be honest at that stage for the money you'd have to spend to get 110bhp i'd have just bought a custom front subframe for a B18 VTEC conversion and had 180bhp for quite a bit less!

utterly horrible rotty little death traps

still miss mine :)

had a 83 A plater, started off life as a boggo red 1000cc, ended up a Kawasaki green stripped, caged tarmac hugger running a 1340 on a single webber 40 (after extensive bulkhead hammering) great fun if a little on the side of deathwish these days

A nice head, exhaust and a SW5i cam really make MPi's nice to drive. If you wan't it to 'feel' fast, it's worth playing with the fd.

I've got a JCG S kit for mine, which in theory gives top power from an MPi, and it's a very drivable set up :)

mate of mine used to do many mini conversion he had a civic crx engine in his was very scarely fast :D

a lot used to put metro turbo engines in them aswell :p

there is a mental cosworth conversion on fast fords i think it was

I remember the day when I picked up minis from £30 to £200 all runners too back in the mid 90's.

Then the prices went bezerk!

Just a little bit green with envy at yours :-)
