Hi all!

Some of you may have read about the problems i was having with my https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-GI ... having 2 faulty cards :(

I have now been given a full refund, so am needing a new card to go with my new system :)

This be my spec :

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £169.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £167.99
1 x Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SATA 2.5" 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (CSSD-F120GB3A-B) £78.98
1 x Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £69.98
1 x Corsair 2013 Edition Gamer Series GS 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020063-UK) £59.99
1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX) £41.99
1 x Xigmatek Pantheon Mid Tower Case - Black £39.98
Total : £643.01 (includes shipping : £11.75).

So...i need a card that will go nicely with that spec...preferably something around the same price...will go to £200 if its a brilliant card for the price...getting tomb raider in there would possibly sway me as well :p

Cheers :)

If you want nVidia then a 660 is the closest thing to a 7850 I believe. About on par with performance but costs a bit more.

The Sapphire 7870 xt looks a good choice then, first "problem" on google is the exact thing ive just had with 2 x 7850s >_< haha

Would randomly crash to a black screen with the sound looping, seems a common(ish) problem with a few cards :( The fact i got 2 is just about my luck :p

Did you try motherboard bios updates (all a bit irrelevant now, but I'm curious)?

I hope you don't have that problem again with your new card. :)

Tried everything mate haha, had to make doubly sure the second time as i was asking for a refund and not just an exchange :p Must have been something though as they wouldnt refund unless there was a fault as it was over the 28days

Any other contenders then or does the 7870 XT look my best bet, wary about going for a B - grade one with the problems i have had, but the £50 saving is not to be sniffed at :(

never had a issue with a gpu dying preowned or B grade
doa a few times but after 90days never had any issues and ive built a fair few pcs for friends with B grade and outlet items so i would grab a B grade while they have them

Woah! Hold on there!

A 660Ti is a good deal slower than a 7950.

A 660Ti roughly matches a 7870.

I was going on the aandtech review where they benched it against ther 7950. It looks about on par to me. Certain games were quicker than the 660ti and some were slower. I think they said on average they were about the same

7870 it looks like then :D Cheers guys :) and poo the B grade ones have all gone haha, thats made my mind up about that then :p
