The Omaha beach landing in Medal of Honor. Still one of the best levels, in any game, ever.

Edit: I'm going to throw another one in as I think it ties with the above - the brown pants moment when you first meet the T-Rex in the original Tomb Raider, when all you have is a poxy shotgun. The screen shaking, foot thumping intro was just brilliant.

Has to be the ending of Portal 1 for me when the song kicked in I sat inthralled, when it finished I went straight back & did it again just for the song.

My favourite has to be from Metal Gear Solid 1, the cut scene after you defeat Grey Fox and talk to Otacon for the first time, excellent.

Half-Life 2 - Picking up the bricks and placing them at one end of the make-shift see-saw to reach a higher level.

First use of proper physics for gameplay. Changed everything from then on imo.

Metal gear solid 3, the boss fight with The End. Took me hours of stalking him as I didn't grab the sniper rifle (like you are supposed to) so was pretty much screwed to fight him. Eventually wore him down but had no rations left so no more health, spent 10 minutes crawling up to his new position to deliver the final shot to his skull at point blank range. I don't think a boss fight has ever given me such a sense of achievement

Edit - wait it has to match your own favourite cutscene/mechanic/whatever? Uhm...

My first win on F1 2011 with Williams (Legend Difficulty, 100% length at Spa)was unbelievably satisfying. I think my favourite moment in my admittedly short gaming career...

Dammit can't decide between the Ghillies in the Mist mission on CoD4 trying desperately to resist the temptation to jump up and scream LEEROOOYYY! or in Portal 2 at the end with I'm in space.
