Hi, has anyone moved from Sky LLU broadband and phone to BT Infinity ?

Do I need to contact Sky to get a mac code ?

From looking around I seem to be getting conflicting answers.

Has anyone done the switch ? and how did it go ?

Thanks.

I'm in the middle of doing this. You will need to get your mac code from sky, just phone them up. Booked in for installation a week today so will let you know how it goes.

Thanks, will give Sky a call later, BT installation date is 9th of April.

I am wary that Sky will cut us off before BT is installed.

Don't think that'll happen, I got told that when BT activate the Mac code (assume that is installation) sky switches off. I'm gonna phone sky to confirm they will cancel my broadband sometime in the next few days.

Could you not go to sky fibre instead? As much as I like sky I has some reservations about CS agents you speak to and what notes they put on the account & how bothered they are when you chat to them. They dont record all calls only 75% of them, I hope all goes well.

Well I have called BT for advice, and they have told me I need to contact Sky and get a MAC code.

Called Sky and they say I don't need a MAC code and the switch should just go ahead.

Here we go, here we go, here we go.

Can we switch to BT from Sky LLU without any problems ?

Thanks tipsy, I don't really want to stay with Sky, plus their fastest fibre looks to be a bit more expensive than BT.

Said that to me but was having none of it. Tbf I got my Mac code there and then on the phone.

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone waiting to get to speak to someone at BT, I finally managed to get through to a foreign call centre and I have decided to cancel the order.

Signed up with Plusnet Fibre unlimited, £23.98 for 6 months then £33.98 after, they have confirmed I will not need a Mac code, and it gets installed a week earlier than BT.

Its a shame BT don't offer a similar price as Plusnet, given that they own them.

Due to this Sky will not cancel down, so you will need to call them and give 31 days notice.

On the up side you can (If you want) wait until your Plusnet goes live so there is zero down time.

I did consider it, but Sky were more expensive, plus I would have to pay £50 for the router because I am an existing customer.

Sky have had more than enough money out of me over the years.

Feel your pain. I was always under the impression that Sky were cheaper when it came to Broadband, but looking at their fibre prices you're right.

I guess they have to charge more as after all, they're leasing lines from BT.
******* line rental almost 15 quid.

Currently in the process of switching myself, didn't need to give MAC code as BT contacted Sky themselves for the switch, being installed on the 2nd. Also no FUP or shaping with BT
