The Budget 2013 - 12:30

Well, positive moves on Beer Tax, Income Tax threshold, and child care.

The budget as the whole is yet another failure. Osbourne continues to cling to a failed policy and now plans on trying to put fire into the housing market to drag the economy upwards despite the fact that house prices remain too high.

It remains to be seen whether the OBR's meagre prediction on growth will be met. They've really not been convincing so far. Even if they are, it merely highlights how bad Osbourne has been.

When have we ever had a chancellor worse than George?

Children develop by interacting with other people, be it adults or other children. Keeping them with one carer/parent all the time is not the best way to bring them up.

I was not suggesting the child does not need to interact with others. I was referring to bringing the child up by a parent rather than being one of many in a crèche for 8 or more hours. There will be few mothers with young children who do not have access to mother and child groups or similar.

You have to be qualified to look after children, it's not a free for all for everyone on benefits to get involved ;)

As we have seen from various TV progs that may be the ideal but is not necessarily the case. A mother will have more interaction with a child than a child in a crèche would get, apart from the above groups were there will be many mothers for fewer children.

Also, my £1300 a month child care payments support many jobs.

It is your choice not to look after your child for a large part of his/her waking day.

Well the only other choice is to not work and claim benefits - which would cost the Government more money, in lost tax at 40% rate.

:: edit ::

I currently only save £50 a month on tax through childcare vouchers at work. So your argument to not work to save the Government money doesn't stack up.

Jesus, how many kids do you have?

As I said in my original post someone else out of work will be employed and their benefits will cease to be paid which depending on the circumstances may save.

A parent is crucial for the socialisation and disciplining of the child. In a crèche situation these workers have to be ultra careful of not being construed to harm the child in any way. It is difficult enough for professionals like teachers or social workers.

I asked you a question. If you've no interest in answering, don't. I can't say I'm entirely sure why you feel the need to be a dick about it.

I would have thought it pretty obvious, I know you to be a follower of Thatcherism.

Is it too much to expect you'd have picked some idea of my position since your entrance and involvement in debates?
