Gillete fusion blades - how long?

Yet to buy a proper razor (!) but this Braun 340 wet&dry is absolutely brilliant. Gets a smoother shave result than what a brand new Quattro/Titanium/3D/Mach3/Bi-Turbo/TSFi/Superchaarged blade would ever get and the result remains the same every single time.

Best of all? Use it in the shower :D

Considering how much a pack of blades costs, one of these soon pays for itself before you start saving cash instead.

I have a heavy growth and sensitive skin and I cut myself to shreads with a new blade.
I use disposable sensitive skin razors which I blunt on a sheet of paper before using. I have a goatee beard but shave very day and a razor lasts over 3 months. I go over each bit several times in short strokes and get a close shave without cuts.
I once had to go for a job interview and used a new razor. Whilst shaving I noticed a small hair growing on my nose and managed to nick my nose whilst shaving the hair. The little cut would not stop bleeding. I went to the chemists and bought a stiptic pencil to stop it, however when I touched against the cut it was agony. I solved the problem by borrowing a neighbour's hair dryer.

No electric can give a closer shave than a blade, the foils and way they cut prevent that. When I shave, it takes a couple of minutes and am as smooth as glass, impossible to get closer without actually flaying the skin from your chin.

Drying them helps slow down corrosion which results in a "layer" forming on the blades making them dull and blunt.

Yep, Fusion blades 4 shave max before they feel like a rusty hacksaw. I'm constanly on the hunt for supermarket offers and usually find it cheaper to get the handle/2 blade bubble packs when they're on offer.

Not everyone's facial hair is the same of course, I can only say what I've experienced and that's exactly as posted, that this 340 gets a smoother and more comfortable shave than any Gillette or Wilkinsin Sword blade and up until recently I'd been using those forever..

I use the Gillette blue disposables. I learned to shave when the double bladed Gillette was the latest and best razor. It did me then and does me now. I find there's literally no difference between them and whatever the latest gimmicky razor is at the time. And I don't mind if the GF uses one!

I thought it might have been something to do with the calcium drying on the blade (very chalky around the shire)... Might give this a go before buying something diff.

Upwards of 6 months. I shave about 3/4 times a week.

They definitely become duller after about 10 uses but then after that they stay about the same, not great, but still do the job. I eventually change the blade when I feel like a treat.

Compared to some of you guys I must have really tough skin because I never get any rashes or anything like that. :p

Youre northern... Im southern..

I use Proglides every 3-4 days.

My stubble is only medium thickness I guess.

I clean my blades by running them up the skin of my arms in the opposite direction than you would if shaving, and get 8-10 decent shaves out of this before changing for new.

If I have the time, I use my EJ proper razor, but at the moment time is fleeting. :(

Either that or you've got whiskers made of dust! 80+ shaves per blade, wtf? I'm surprised it hasn't rusted away by the end

I find the blades last a long longer if you give your face a scrub first - you want your blade cutting hair not scrubbing off dead skin. I've always given the blade a good blast under the hot tap when finished too.

I shave 5-6 times a week and it lasts 3-4 weeks before I can be bothered to change it. After the first couple of times on a new blade my shave only feels very close if I wash and scrub the face first.

I also find Dove soap to be excellent as an alternative to shave cream/gel. Those moments when I'm in the shower and forget to grab the cream from the cabinet and cba to get out of it! Has a smoother glide as well.

I get about 4-5 shaves out of one, I tend to scrub my face before hand and use King of Shaves Alpha Gel which works very well, followed up with some Tend Skin for ingrowing hairs and some Nivea Moisturiser.

I don't get the whole manly shaving thing, i've got a very heavy beard and used to use "safety razors" in the eighties when there was nothing else available, all they ever did was leave my face really sore and very dry from those soap things you were supposed to use with it.

I gave up with shaving. To look completely presentable shaven I'd need shave in the morning and take a razor to work and shave at 3pm :p Thick dark hair rapid growth hair + pale skin

Went and had a proper shave at a mens grooming place with a mate (no homo), his fresh face lasted a couple of days, I was like a hobo the next morning. Been rocking a full beard more or less constantly since I was about 16

The irony of it is I can't keep the stuff on my head but it pours out of my face  :p
