I cant make my mind up between a gaming laptop or a ultrabook. I only travel abroad on planes once or twice a year so maybe could cope with a heavy laptop like the MSI GT60 or GE60 but it might get very annoying! I struggle through the airport with my HP laptop atm which weights about 2.5kg.

I guess I would mainly use the laptop in the house as an additional PC to run my flight sim setup (AS2012, ProATCX, FSBuild, Topcat, UT2, EFB, Simplates X). A touchscreen would be nice to have as the EFB and Simplates X are optimised for touch.

On the move I would use it for watching movies, viewing photos from my DSLR and internet browsing. I dont really want it too noisy on the plane either as it might disturb anyone sleeping next to me! I also need a full size SD card slot.

I've previously owned an MSI GX660R, and that build quality was fine, the only issue I had after 2 years (after simply sticking the thing in a backpack with no sleeve) was that some of the lid lighting stopped working, but the laptop performance was very good.

With any laptop however you're advised to keep it stored when on the move in an adequate backpack/case else you'll run into trouble.

Only thing that would steer me away from that laptop is the 660M.

You don't rate the 660M @ £700?

Plus an SSD, decent CPU, good screen by all accounts, excellent audio for a laptop, good wifi card and BluRay!

I was lucky and snagged one early yesterday for £600 before they bumped up the price.

Its great value but a bit heavy. I might wait until Asus release the price of the Transformer Book. It would be great to sue the touchscreen for the CDU and Avilasoft EFB.
